I tend to agree with at least part of this. Truthfully, Roddenberry's vision was great, but most of the things he directly wrote were dated and somewhat crappy. Ultimately, when he stopped having creative control, things got to their peak. I've often thought of doing a thread on this, but don't wish to be flamed off the board for it. I respect him in that he's the "Beatles" of Trek, and was monumentally influential for the future of the brand, as the Beatles were for the future of R&R, but I simply find a lot of his stuff to be rather crappy.Tsukiyumi wrote:The guy may have created 'Trek, but in the end, he was just a greedy, womanizing douchebag.
Plus, he only wrote a few episodes out of how many? It may have been his creation, but it sure wasn't his creativity that made the show great.

Actually we did see them, albeit very briefly, as computer schemeatics in TMP and TWoK.Bryan Moore wrote:I love this, and really wish we saw more TOS "Constitution Family" ships around. The fact that we never saw the Saladin/Hermes, etc is quite disappointing, as they're really a great design.

Re: Starship Pics
That's pretty interesting. I guess, technically, they're canonical, then.

True.
Although doesn't the Millenium Falcon pop up in First Contact? Not sure that could count as canon, unless Thadiun Okona has upgraded his ship.

that could be a defiant...
In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

Not really - you can see the forward prongs and the semicircular aft hull pretty clearly, and the cockpit if you squint a bit.
