I believe Snopes is slightly incorrect. The lyrics were written by someone else - Roddenberry then purposefully used just the music for the show in order to avoid paying the lyricist any royalties.

Is it supposed to be from the perspective of a woman whose heart was broken by Captain Kirk? It certainly uses the word "star" a lot.

The thing about Kirk, was that he really DID seem to love all of his women.

Sorry, but I think I have to correct the First Second-Generation winner. I won with my "Katherine Hepburn on Speed" one, and my father, Frankie Chestnuts, won quite recently with the "T'pol Internet Porn" caption.
