Getting a nacelle in the face cant be pleasent.

I imagine it would be rather explosive, if Cause and Effect is any indication.

Wouldn't the shields just bounce of eachouther rather than cousing any damage.

But there wouldn't be a unknow anomaly present that misterasly shut down half the ship systems. So its very unlikly, that it would reasoult in an explosion.

It would probably absorb some of the KE but it would be over powered probably. I doubt they would "bounce".

Agreed. The shields seem to act more as a barrier than a simple field; each one would probably act as an impact on the other.

Sound of nails down a blackboard when they hit.

That claim has been brought up before and debunked many times. The only way in which the anomaly was responsible for the E-D's destruction was by making her unable to move out of the way in time. The nacelle destruction was entirely the fault of the ship itself.

Well, maybe if the shield harmonics were set perfectly, they might bounce.

If they were set to the same frequency it would be like they weren't even there when touch shield to shield, when the shields touched the opposite matter they would likely obliterate it until overwhelmed. Once that happened you would be left with Hull on Hull, all in all a pretty un-enjoyable experience I imagine.

I'd think that would happen if the shields were exactly 180 degrees out of phase - destructive interference. If they were exactly in phase, it would be constructive interference.

The torpedo that was set to the same frequency in Generations as the E-D shield passed through harmlessly until it impacted on the ship. Lursa or Be'tor, whichever was looking at through the scope at the time called out the exact modulation as what was seen for the E-D shields and told them to match it rather than use an inverse number so I believe setting the shields to the same setting would have them pass harmlessly through each other until they connected with something that wasn't synched to them.
Putting it another way I believe all torpedoes have a shield system on them, even if it is small, heres why. In TOS they couldn't fire a Torp throiugh the shields, why, I think it was because the Torp didn't have a shield. By the movie era or even later on in TOS the overcame this problem by installing a micro shield on the Torp. If they then set that shield to the same frequency as their own shield it can pass through without a problem while still allowing other Torps to detonate on contact since they are not the same freq.

That would make sense, but not to much in the way of cannon to back that up, though.

I see what you're getting at, but destructive and constructive interference are facts. Apparently, facts with details about which 'Trek writers are unaware...

Most Trek writers are "unaware" that you should carry an umbrella when it's raining
