No it doesn't make sense to me either but it's a race made up by guys on the internet. Why would it make sense? It just works, possibly by the power of fanboyism.

And who are also lying to their entire populace about something of high importance.
I would have mentioned that but I know he will just say that they are trustworthy because they haven't been discovered or because they wear purple jogging suits every second Tuesday after 4 pm but change into yellow after 9pm...

Just out of curiosity, is this all online based or do they have published books of stories/information not from a POD Publisher?

As far as I know, chakats are confined to the internet. Other parts of the furry thing have produced and published comics and such before, though, so that may change.

Would a furry magazine count?

So basically we aren't dealing with something created by one persone but rather a fan creation type deal? By that I mean, Star Trek was one man, Roddenbury (yes I know there were others but I'll explain) he had control over what happened and how things were done. A fan project being the idea was someones but then they sort of turned it loose and now have veryy little control over what happens and it is largerly run by fans.
The image I get in my head is a Magazine where fans/readers send in their own fiction to be published and such, am I right or no?

Nope. The Chakat Universe was created by Benard Doove aka Chakat Goldfur
From his site:
Copyrights:
First let's get the legal stuff out of the way.
All Bernard's art and stories are copyright © 1993-2007 Bernard Doove.
Chakat characters are specifically his creation and remain his intellectual property, but you are free to use them provided you use them in accordance with how they are described on this website.
You may pass these images on to your friends by electronic means without any form of alteration, but you may only do a print-out for your own collection.
Please do not sell or collect these works onto another site or onto any storage medium (e.g. diskette, CD-ROM) without the express permission of the artist. (Personal back-ups excepted of course.)
Various art, stories and background information that has hugely enhanced the Chakat Universe has been provided by various people such as, but not limited to, John Plunkett, Terry Knight, Kacey Miyagami, Boyce Kline, Leonardo Maffi, Mayra "Huskie" Boyle, and many, many others. Thanks go out to each and every one of you! All contributions remain copyright to the respective contributors.
And where to find it
Where do you find it?
Good. Now that's out of the way, you may want to know where to find some more of Bernard's work and what he has done.
He is a founding member of South Fur Lands, the Australasian fan magazine formerly published by Jagafeh Press and now continued under the banner of the Chakat's Den. See the SFL homepage for more information about South Fur Lands and its contributors.
He has been collaborated with his friend, Will Sanborn to illustrate some of his stories, some of which have appeared in Fur Visions. Their latest creation is the race called the Rrakith. You will be hearing more about them in the future. The introductory story was published in South Fur Lands #5. Check out Will's homepage for more art and stories.
Many drawings, including a few coloured ones, have been printed in Fur Visions and Fur Plus magazines published by Karl Maurer.
The three-part story, Transformations, is now available collected into one book with several new illustrations.
The Stellar Foxtaur Portfolio has six high-quality prints and biographies of the newest taur species in the Chakat Universe.
And now, the ULTIMATE COLLECTION of his works is now available on CD-ROM. This CD collects all of the art available on this website, plus all the guest artists' work, up until January 2003. Also all the stories, articles and photographs. As a bonus, you get tons of icons and backgrounds to use for your own webpages. "Goldfur & Friends", also collects the entire art archive of Roy D. Pounds II, the art and stories of Terry Knight, plus the furry writings of Will Sanborn and John Plunkett. For your greater enjoyment, all of this is presented in browsable format. It's great value at only US$20.00. Currently, this CD-ROM can only be ordered directly from me (with payment by virtually any method, including PayPal), or picked up at a major convention.

Okay, to hopefully help clear up a few things, here direct from The Introduction to Skunktaurs. Hy and hym are just alternate pronouns due to their gender situation.
If you ask yourself wether a Skunktaur never has any privacy with this mental bond, you must take in account that it's perfectly normal to hym to feel and 'hear' the buzz of hys fellows in the back of hys mind. And likewise hy accepts that others can sense hym as well.
There was, however, a Chakat psychologist who figured that there might be people who wold object to constantly having others 'read' their emotional wellbeing and/or having a din of the entire 'linked' Skunktaur populace in their minds.
Shi devised a simple solution, added to the training a young cub undergoes when learning to cope with hys powers. They are introduced to a very special headband that can shield their minds.
The effects are that Skunktaurs wearing it are no longer aware of others.
The 'trick' here is that the headband doesn't do diddly. It's all 'in the mind' the subconsious mind is trained to filter out any incursions when the headband is worn. Secondly other Skunktaurs likewise 'ignore' the other when they notice the band, and even 'actively' try and stop sending their emotional patterns. With the shared bond, the unconcious message that Skunktaur A is wearing the headband, the entire community will automatically adjust as hy walks by.
Similarly, this also works on Chakat. As long as they BELIEVE that the headband is indeed special.
To keep up with appearance, an uncommon material is woven into the headband.

So, they could be similarly trained early enough to do the same without the headband? And all the points brought up about it being evnetually debunked are valid?

Well yes I suppose. But I think it's more that the headbands help create a physical manifestation with which to connect to in training and it becomes sort of like a security blanket, and it helps put non-telepaths at ease. Hopefully by the time it's debunking goes public people will be more accepting of telepaths in general.

How can you possibly train someone that way?

I'm not totally sure. I'm (or for those of you being smartasses, my Fursona) a Chakat not a Skunktaur...well for the most part. But the best guess I have is that a large part of it includes a telepath/empathic teacher to help in training.

So the answer would just be "quantum", then?
