So are you really saying that if the Ba'ku decide to rise up against the Federation, the UFP will just watch them prepare for conflict for a century?
The UFP isn't the most aggresive force. They let the Son'a rise up, and they let the Dominion build up their forces in Cardassian space. And they'll just go "it's only 600 people" again.

What's N-V-T-S?

From Mel Brooks' History of the World, Part I. One of the scenes is set in ancient Rome, and a character describes another character as "N-V-T-S, nuts." You know, because the ancient Latin alphabet had no "U" character, and used a "V" instead?

Mel Brooks, didn't he make a couple of old films?

You're obviously merely trying to get a rise out of me, but if you haven't made yourself familiar with History of the World Part I, Young Frankenstein, or Blazing Saddles, then you're only hurting yourself.

Haven't seen those. But wasn't he in Spaceballs? Or was it Galaxy Quest? I know it was some parady movie.

It was Spaceballs, an incredible film. So were most of Mel Brooks' films. He's a f*cking genius.

Was he in Spaceballs? Brooks makes appearances in many of his films, but he also produces and directs (and often writes) for them. Spaceballs, BTW, is as funny as watching paint dry compared to the titles I mentioned.

President Skroob, Brooks backward. I love that movie. "Spaceball One, they've gone to plaid!"

Brooks was President Skroob and Yogurt in
Spaceballs. I personally thought it was a great movie. Not as good as
Young Frankenstein, but a damn good outing, regardless.

The UFP isn't the most aggresive force.
So? They have a faction which
they know to be hostile gathering strength
inside their own borders. The Federation may be passive, but we've seen that they're willing to engage in conflicts. A bunch of rowdy peasants with a handful of guns and a poorly maintained ship, likely with no armament, would be anhialated by even the smallest Starfleet ships. It takes virtualy no resources, is virtualy risk free, and takes out a possible threat. With these considerations, it's quite likely the Feds would launch an attack to take them down.
Also, they would already be in a state of war with the Ba'ku, as they attacked Starfleet personel and (somehow) siezed a ship. So they have every reason to knock them out.
Also, this is ignoring the fact that
none of this would even need to be considered. There's no concievable way the SpAmish are going to sieze anything more than a worthless transport ship, likely with heavy casualties to them.

Because that worked so well with the Marquis

There were a lot more then 600 Marquis first off. Many of them were also starfleet personel or former. Not much of a match to the Space-Amish.
