Yeah, that's not exactly showing much compassion.

That was the original plan. But that was before mom died; they think I can't afford to pay the bills and taxes here by myself.

Eh? So, CAN they sell the house out from underneath you?

It's my grandma who wants to sell it now. I don't think she ever considered that she'd outlive my mom.

CAN you make it financially without your mom? Because, there are other options you could consider if you wanted.

Honestly, I'm fine. They are unfortunately right that I probably can't pay for this place by myself.

Ever thought of taking in boarders? Or renting out "some" of the place?
I've got a friend whose husband just up and bailed on her, and left her with the house. She took in a family to live there, after turning the garage into a small studio for her. What they pay covers all the mortage and utilities, and she lives for free.

Indeed. With some of the mortgage closures happening in the U.S. (that's where you live, right?), there might be some people who need nice affordable housing.
You might need help putting the papers in order, and also checking for backgrounds, etc... but if you don't want to sell, there are alternatives to be able to keep affording it. It's an asset.
And not to forget, it's the f***** house you lived in!

Hey I just found out that Texas is #1!
In unsolved highway serial killings, there are 38 unsolved killings associated with their well-maintained highway system.

Well, in a state where you get a free revolver with every six-pack...

I thought that everybody having the right of owning and carrying a gun made your state safer?

Who said any of those people were shot?
