Is it alright if I create a new character? I could create a new pilot character, or what positions are open? I know a lot of shipboard people didn't post a lot during that last story arc and with people dying and stuff in the past, I didn't really keep track all that well.

Well, I know we'll need a helmsman...

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to be harsh. I just don't want to be helmsman again, I only did something interesting in my spare time or during the away mission. I'm hoping that Starfleet would send someone to balence the power on the ship. Rochey and his Breen lap dog are too forceful and unstarfleetish to go unchecked. If someone disagrees with Rochey, Monroe and his men are called in and either force them to do what Rochey wants or carts them to the brig or their quarters no questions asked. Since their actions on the away mission are questionable, and the fact that they're not Federation citizens I'm sure that some high ranking official will want to balance the power out.

The who/how/why/what parts all depend on which position the new character would be in.

I thought Rochey and Murno acted admirably on the away mission.

Maybe they were a bit "un-starfleetish," but this is an RPG - I thought they acted perfectly in the characters that they had set up.

That's the problem. I think the characters are pretty harsh, very much a get the job done with no side-tracks pair.

Well, that's what happens in any military. Refuse to follow orders, you take a trip into the brig.

Well, Granite's character was, IIRC, sent to keep an eye on the ship and crew, and Teaos holds a rank equivelant to mine.

Of course we did.

From what I know in reality, the XO of a ship is usualy a hard ass when it comes to dealing with the crew. The Captain gives the orders, the Commander enforces them. For that role, you need someone who's willing to get the job done via less than pleseant means.
As for Munro, he was just doing his job and following orders.

That's my point. There needs to be someone there to keep it StarFleetish and Teaos hasn't posted in this RP for a while. Now, they may be acting in character but my point is this is supposed to be a Starfleet ship, not a military vessel.

Exactly. Rochey stabbed Blackstar in the back three different times. We need someone in power on this ship that keeps him in check. Teaos is currently the only one with the power but he doesn't use it.

Now once again the exact character/rank/position hasn't been laid down yet, but here's some general ideas about it:

Starfleet seeing the Daystrom making little progress and losing several crewman, including two caused by friendly fire, sends a squad of fighters and a runabout to assist, led by my character. She'll also be there to investigate some of the more questionable actions of some of the senior staff. She'll also help Mikey finish the super shuttle he was working on with Blackstar before the away mission.
