I would hope so, because if that has some kind of practical function I'd be afraid to learn what it was.

How do you make a Venetian blind?

Poke him in the eyes!

Hmm, my cousin has something similar from Milan. In Yiddish we call it a fishteretz.

BTW, have they completed the safety locks to keep Venice from sinking further yet?

And... I am on vacation! And flying out to Utah tomorrow! And... hopefully not getting sick when I get there.

...

Seriously, flying and my digestive system do not get along well.

It's not sinking any more, it's just eroding because there's a load of factories near by that are messing up the ph levels of the lagoon.

Sounds about right...They've put a couple of factories by my old town which is a shame. Lago Di Bracciano (The lake we lived near), while small, was beautiful.

Hmm. I remember reading about a massive, city-encompassing system of locks, reservoirs, and pumps in a NatGeo about a year ago, but it might have been flood prevention rather than substrate-erosion prevention.

Is that pronounced like fish Tourettes? Because I have this image in my head of a goldfish yelling obscenities.
