Here's a thought I had, mostly regarding Alpha but it can work here. When trying to figure out how to organize all the information for my nation IC, I started thinking about the CIA World Factbook. I don't know how many of you are familiar with it but I started wondering what a World Factbook entry would look like for the Gorn/Tholian Hegemony or Romulan Star Empire. I thought it'd be kinda neat if we went through and created our own World Factbook-style entries for kicks and giggles. Now, naturally this would all be OOC information and I think it'd be best to not act on the information disclosed IC unless learned through IC means, but really the only way to manage that is using the honors system. We all agree to operate that way and hope everyone else does too.

Is anyone else even mildly interested/amused by such an idea?

I love the idea, I've always loved the idea of expanding on each powers background information (which is why i name all my ships in Alpha).

I have tried to do some of it in Beta. I think if it is out there though it is information that would be used IC, even if sub-consciously. I would think it could still be done by each power, it is just that the less open and democratic you are the more you could lie about without it being found out.

If Everyone made one and sent them to me (via e-mail) then I could edit them a little and post them as IC information.

This would contain things about cultural information and such, right?

The fact file generally has things along the lines of an almanac.

Really what you would include would be up to you if you want to do it but I suppose a baseline would be the following.

Government Name
Government Type
Location of Capitol
Size of Territory
Number of Planets
Number of Citizens
GDP
Trade
Resources
Military Information
Cultural Information

Those are just off the top of my head. For some powers these would be nearly out and out lies in many categories.

I've sent out templates to everyone to fill out concerning the factbook idea. Fill out the sheets with genuine information, and I'll deviate from that for those powers and ranges that need to be deviated.

Use them to really fill out your empire...there are ranges that are pretty specific, that don't leave room for exploration, but things like national holidays and the introduction background.

I am still waiting on Cardassian, Ferangi, Klingon, and Romulan Turns.
