Or they would have done what they tended to do anyway, glass the planet from orbit since they had nearly total space dominance. Which honestly make's one wonder why they even bothered with ground warfare.

I suppose I can see the fan wank element to it, but mostly I just think it's a fun if completely over the top clip. The melee shotgun fight and the sniper/shield total take down scenes were just freaking awesome to watch. It's crazy overdone, but the choreography is badass and the actual computer work is very well done.

The Covenant only bothered with ground warfare when there was a forerunner artifact, or Halo or some other especially important religious location to seize. Otherwise, they simply glass it.
