It's a lot more complicated then that. NASCAR is the racing equivilent of a 43-way free for all brawl. The drivers have to handle these machines on courses, no two of which are alike(other then a general shape), racing at speeds of 200 MPH, with temperatures reaching over 100 degrees inside the cars, while having to monitor the wear and tear on their tires, amount of fuel they have left, how many laps to go till the next recommended green flag pit stop, while trying to fight their way to the front, all the while being on the verge of losing control in every turn. One mistake could mean race over for you(or at least your chance of winning, and often anyone unlucky enough to be withen drafting distance behind you. Not to mention the tough schedule of having a race almost every week of the season. That means you only have one week to get your car set up for that particular track, get practice time in, and qualify for the race. And when they take damage, they try to stay in the race. If the car can make minimum speed, and doesn't present a threat to other drivers(sheet metal hanging off and such) then they'll send it back out

F1 doesn't even race real cars. Basically they take the most powerful engine they can find, modify it till it performs better, then straps it into one of these toy bodys, which fall apart from a minor bump. You can't even draft an opponent cause of the aerodynamics, you spend virtually no time in the pits, and you use the same set up for virtually every track because the roads on them are all identicle. There's almost no skill or strategy required. As long as you can drive, it comes down to who has the best engine. And even a minor bump does major damage to these cars and they'll leave the race without even trying to make repairs. And theres only 20 races or so spread out over several months.

I'm sorry, all I can think about when I think of NASCAR is one of Homer Simpson's lines when they're walking through a nature preserve and clear the brush away tp doscover a racing track which Lisa complains about "We can look at nature anytime Lisa. Here's a chance to see cars driving!"

Indeed, the fact that the cars can take so much punishment relative to F1 is evidence that less skill is required. In NaASAR you can throw the thing around however you like and it'll get you to the end. In F1 you've got to be in exactly the right place on every single corner. If you're not, at best you'll have an extremely medicocre race and at worst you won't finish. Overtaking is a similar situation - in NASCAR you just sit behind soemone and let them drag you along in the slipstream. In F1 you have to fight against the reduced grip while still trying to close down your opponent.

Plus, you still haven't responded to the point that NASCAR tracks are glorified roundabouts.

I'm sorry, but I really must disagree with that statement. Being Irish, I can reliably inform you that pub kicking-out time can be highly amusing to watch (or participate in) if one is either sober enough or drunk enoough.
Cars driving around in circles for long periods of time = more boring than Cricket.
