I know I wasn't worried when we went last time.Mikey wrote:I assume Blackstar meant a Chevrolet Cavalier, which is FAR from an SUV.
Ian - forget about the Steve Irwin-stingray connection. What happened to him was a freak accident, and most rays are retiring creatures who can't do any serious, lasting harm. Except for mantas, who can sometimes land on top of you. I live at the Jersey shore, and regularly swim in the ocean with various types of skates and rays. Just enjoy the trip!

Sheffield is a great place to be a student. Both Graham and I went there.Thorin wrote:Thanks Rochey & Seafort.Captain Seafort wrote:Good luck with Durham, Thorin. Who've you got replies back from so far?
Got replies so far from Sheffield and York. York offered me BBB - which if I don't get I should be shot (having got AAA last year...) - while Sheffield have yet to give me the specific conditions [grades], but have said I will get one - probably about ABB.
You can apply to 5 universities, my 5th one was Bath - purely because I thought I might aswell use up all 5 (it's not extra cost). My reasoning behind Bath was purely because it was the first university I saw in the list that I knew a friend would be studying at. I don't even know where Bath is, haven't visited it (ever), or even looked at their website. To be honest, I don't even care if I don't get any sort of response from Bath, I ain't going there

The latest in my life is that I've joined the forum. Hi. *waves* Do I get run out on a rail if I say I've only mostly watched Next Generation and a few random snippets of the other shows? (Well, and the movies as well. My parents owned IV when I was a kid, I think I have it memorized, just about.)
"I'm sorry, Penterian Fleet Command cannot come to the comm right now, all our personnel are currently tied up..."

Hey there, and don't worry; having an encyclopedic knowledge of Trek isn't necessary.Do I get run out on a rail if I say I've only mostly watched Next Generation and a few random snippets of the other shows?

I've got a few friends who go there, and they say it's pretty good. It's definitely my 3rd university after Manchester and Durham, but I can see it's probably most likely I'll be going to Sheffield, as Durham/Manchester will almost certainly (if I even get an offer, which is a big ask; so touch wood) offer me AAA, and I'm finding it increasingly more likely of just missing out on an A in one of my subjects.IanKennedy wrote: Sheffield is a great place to be a student. Here's the latest from me:
Monday - Thursday im working in Stretford from 8pm-8am, plus being paid 35p a mile for each trip there and back, so it works out to be about £84 just for my petrol, plus night crew bonus, so im gonna have quite a bit of cash at the end of this month. If I don't get shot that is! haha

The latest? In the most stunning upset EVER, the NEW YORK GIANTS defeat the previously unbeaten New England Patriots by a score of 17 - 14 in a dramatic defensive battle at Super Bowl XLII. In a bit of sports superstition, a Giants touchdown (as well as a late drive-saving first-down catch) are caught by David Tyree, wearing jersey number 85 - the same number formerly worn by my friend Stephen Baker "the touchdown maker," who caught the touchdown representing the last points in the Giants' Super Bowl victory in 1991.

I guess ya missed the big thread with your name on it, Mikey?
In other sport-related news, I had fun watching Ireland scrape a win against Italy in the rugby.
