They couldn't have been all that full of hatred toward other life forms, as a whole, if they were willing to sign the non-agression pact. Right?

Our ability to make them fall apart could have had soemthing to do with them signing it.

just because a species is the only known species in its space, doesn't mean that it is or that it always was

True, 8472 wanted to purge the whole galaxy. True, janeway made a treaty with the borg that back fired. True, janeway made a NAT with 8472 that holds to this day. 8472 was attacked first and by first impression saw everything in our galaxy as a threat so they wanted to remove that threat. Now that they know they have nothing to fear, they just stopped caring.

How did it backfire? It got us through Borg space and stopped a hostile invader.

An invader that was responding to a Borg attack, and whose hostility was determined based on a four-year-old's interpretation of a completely alien mind. Moreover the alliance prevented the complete destructiom of the single greatest threat to the Federation.

I really doubt that 8472 are the only race in their dimension.
How did it backfire? It got us through Borg space and stopped a hostile invader.
1) The borg survived. Although this was good for Voyager, it was extremely bad for everyone else in the galaxy.

2) As I showed before, we have no evidence they were ever doing anything other than defending themselves against the borg and what they thought was the Federation.

I would rather be proactive in this than hope the super aliens with planet busting weapins realise it was only the Borg who was attacking them... but wait... aren't there Humans in the Borg... and every species for that matter. So really we did help attack them.

Didn't they find out a tonne of info from Voyagers computer? I find it hard to believe they couldn't look at a cubes computer and realize that the borg are the enemies of just about everyone else.

Yeah they did, but they didn't care. They were worried that the whole galaxy was a threat to them so they just decided to wipe out everthing.

Again, we have no evidence of this.
The two wars 8472 were planning were both against govenments that had attacked them first. There is no evidence they were ever going to attack the Klingons, Romulans, Tholians etc.

I certainly can't imagine that 8472 had any thoughts of conquest, or a more general type of preemptive strike before they felt threatened first - being from a differnt type of spae ("fluidic space",) they might have been able to operate comfortably in our space but certainly wouldn't have wanted to establish any long-temr colonies here; and they surely would have guessed rightly that species from our space couldn't or wouldn't wanted to colonize their space.

They didnt want to take us over they wanted to purge us from existence.

Again, where is the evidence for this? We have no evidence they were ever defending themselves, first from the Borg and later from the Federation.
