The Franklin Class was designed c. 2391 to replace older ships being used as diplomatic curriors/Negotiation vessels. It is equiped to be the top Federation luxery liner, and to be the chief diplomatic vessel. It has three large negotiation rooms, each equipped with a full array of holo emmitters, to generate any physical/enviromental need.
The Franklin Class was also designed to act as the unofficial brain of fleet battles. It is equipped with a large Battle Bridge*. This bridge is seperate from the ship's bridge and allows the Head of the fleet instant/real-time locations and conditions of his fleet and issue orders accordingly.

The Solar Class was put into production c. 2397. It was designed as the first true Federation fraightor. Instead of utilizing civillian freightors, or weighing down battle convoies with extra supplies, this ship was designed to transport supplies, and gear where in needs to be when it needs to be there. It's designers also equipped the cargo hull to seperate. The Ship is then able to hook up to large sections of space stations and take them to their assembling point.
