From what I understand, Walken started out as a dancer.

And yeah, almost forgot about Dirty Vegas. Dave Chappelle did an excellent spoof of the Mitsubishi commercial featuring that song.

I don't recall whether I posted this before; if so, here it is again. If not, mind your volume. :D

Here's a fairly recent cut that I originally didn't like, but grew on me:
The Flobots

And for whatever reason, I reminisce about these guys, who are just too damn awesome (I love the message of this song, too:)
Cake

This song has recently starting worming its way into my consciousness:
The Ting-Tings

Though they remind me of a low-fi bubblegum version of Republica, who were actually removed from a convention I was attending for doing lines in the can during an intermission in their performace.

In the category of "No, that's not a joke" - this guy is a real, devout chassidic Jew who has at two major label studio albums and one live one, and was named Billboard Magazine's Top Reggae Artist of 2006:
Matisyahu
BTW, "Matisyahu" is a transliteration of the Hebrew/Yiddish form of his given first name "Matthew."

Just ran across this

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/7513571.stm
Brother Metal recently appeared in the Gods of Metal festival in Italy, along with giants such as Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and Slayer, playing to a crowd of leather-clad hard-core metal fans.

"It was wonderful being there among all these young people" he told the Rome newspaper La Repubblica.

"The only problem was that at one stage out slipped a "what the f " because each time some people think that I am in fancy dress, they can't believe a robed monk is on the stage playing their music".

Mikey: some good stuff, there. I've liked Matisyahu for some time; very odd to see.

Not quite as odd as Brother Metal, though. That's not something you see every day.

Who says metal ended with the '80s? :P

There is some screaming in the song, yes, but there's a melodic chorus, and the after-chorus riff is devastating.

I wanted to get this up - someobody in another thread mentioned Irish-American pop and rock, and I had mentioned the lyrics from "Barroom Hero" by the greatest of the Irish-American Boston punk/oi! bands.

I got a link to:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zlfKdbWw ... re=related

The video is fun, but I really like the music behind (though a radical departure from what we've been posting recently).

On the Irish thing, youtube has the song that immediately came to my mind. No idea what the video is taken from

What do the rest of you think of these guys? I'm not sure, but I think I just might not like young male rockers as a rule. Could be a bit of the whine tone of their voice, I dunno.
