He's a middie for - and captain of - Liverpool FC, the team whose logo Seafort's avatar comprises. IDK exactly how to judge it as a gift... there are certainly worse players of whom to own a jersey, but our personal histories would probably indicate a Rutgers University #22 jersey if any soccer gear at all.

I played a little as a kid, and now my daughter plays (though I think it's second in her affections to softball.) Most of my experience as a fan comes from getting a chance to see an aged Pele with the New York Cosmos as a kid, and watching the aforementioned #22 at Rutgers while I was there.

I played soccer. I sucked at... dribbling(spl) is it? The one where you keep kicking it in front of you while running? Yeah, never was good at it. Too much running too.

I was more of a (American) football player (runningback) and a baseball player (first base and pitcher since I am left handed).

I'd like to dislocate the vertebrae of some of the refs in my daughter's league, no offense. But the consistency is non-existent. In U8 developmental, the kids are only supposed to be awarded indirect kicks... but last week, the ref awarded a direct kick for a handball. Slide tackles aren't supposed to be allowed, but over the last couple of weeks they were commonplace. Play is supposed to stop when a keeper has possession of the ball, but last week a girl was allowed to kick the ball out from under my daughter's arms and chest, nearly breaking some teeth or an eye orbit.

Yes, and due to some unfortunate parenting we have all been warned about addressing the refs. I'm not one to do so anyway, but now the coaches are afraid to talk to the refs on our behalf. Perhaps when I tell them that I won't allow my daughter to mind the net until something is done and they're about to lose their best keeper, then they'll be willing to say something.
