Not really, AMD gets to sell chips what would otherwise get thrown out and buyers can get chips cheaper than a quad core but preforms better at multi-cored applications than a dual core. I have an Athlon II Tri-Core and it preforms great. Really? Huh, I've never heard of those problems. I got my computer built in about half and hour and everything works fine. It fully sees all three cores as well. The only thing I could see being a problem would be trying to plug a tri-core into an old AM2 socket motherboard that doesn't support it.Nickswitz wrote:I've just heard too many problems about them, mainly because most computers don't want to use the third core so they stress it too much and over-heat it. The problem that a lot of AMD chips used to face was a problem with temperatures, in that if they ran too low it would hinder the performance. They needed a sort of optimum temperature. of course, gamers and those that worry about high temperatures installed super efficient fan systems, and even those Hydropowered cooling systems (I never got that, tube of water in the middle of an electronic box) and in the end it hindered performance. The Phenom architecture chipsets have eradicated that problem.
And the Radeon cards have always been some of the best graphics cards I have used.
And I guess I'll have to start checking out the Phenom architecture to see it's useability, as well as performance, personally I think the i series is much better than any AMD chip out there, but AMD will get it sometime.
Also Radeon I have used before, but only the really old ones, and no old card were decent, but yeah, I may start using AMD for the lower end machines I use, I say the lower end because they are generally cheaper than intel. So I'll be able to build up a decent one for almost 3/4 the price that I would pay with an intel chip.
So I just went out and destroyed an old fence piece that had been taken down.... It felt so good, I love breaking things..
Really, I've never heard any problems with it at all actually. I like them, I would love to have an i7 processor. Are you sure that wasn't ALDI, they sell Medion stuff all the time. The kit is of reasonable quality, not top notch but it does work.
