The Prestige

Post by katefan »

I finally managed to catch this movie and I have to say it was fantastic.

For those of you who do not know what it is, The Prestige is directed by Dark Knight director Christopher Nolan and stars Dark Knight stars Christian Bale and Michael Caine as well as Hugh Jackman. The story takes place largely in late 19th century London where Bale and Jackman play competing stage magicians whose hatred and desire to out-do one another takes on destructive proportions. That is all I want to say about the plot, don't want to spoil the movie for anyone.

The movie is visually captivating and the performances are wonderful, and I highly recommend everyone check this film out.

I'm actually going to watch this today or tomorrow; another endorsement makes me think I made a good choice.

I liekd it too. Very mind-f***-ey, and Michael Caine (while a relatively small supporting character) displayed his usual level of excellence. Not Jackman's best work, but Bale was very good as well.

Great movie. I'm with Mikey on the mind thingyness. The twist ending outdoes the climax twist. I kept wondering who was going to win and who should I root for.

I was a little bummed since I saw the twist coming, but it was a really great movie. I liked Lt. Bowie as Nikola Tesla - But I like Tesla references in general. What a fascinating character!

What does defeat mean to you?

Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

That's funny... It's because of that song I called him "Lt. Bowie" on my previous post. FoTC is great.
