I assume it was upgraded at one point. It'd be foolish not to when they needed all the warships they could get during the Dominion War.

But would they have the time resources to do it? While its being upgraded its not fighting.

Why would the USS Nova be in the fleet? Its a science ship. 
No trees were killed in transmission of this message. However, some electrons were mildly inconvenienced.

Not likely. Nova class vessels were in service and quite new at the time. I can't really imagine a class ship getting destroyed and then a ship of a different class being brought into service with that name while the original class was still around.

Why wouldn't they just uprate the ships under way? Most of the SF seemed to be able to upgrade themselves whenever they wanted to. Were there any upgrades done that we know of that couldn't be done by the crews?
