Wasn't it Worf who decided that they were a Battleship...? Again, someone speaking with no understanding of purpose isn't really a good form of judgement. Until I hear a NOT MESSED UP crewman stat the GCS is a Battleship then its not.

Yes.......they were "altered" weren't they? Which raises a point. If the crew didn't have any memories, why didn't McDuff make himself the Captain? Would have made things easier.

The staffs skills and professional knowledge weren't altered. As far as McDuff not being the captain... I imagine that sprt of infiltrator would generally dislike having a spotlight on him most of the time.

So he picks the first officer spot? Tactical would have been better. He could have fired the torpedos himself.

He was put himself in a place that gave him a chance to control the ship without having everyone's eyes on him. I think it was a smart idea.

I'm not 100% certain, but I think the exchange went something like:
Worf: "We are armed with X Y Z."
Picard: "We're a battleship."
Worf: "It apperas so."

I'll try to find exact quotes in a little while.

While coming to the conclusion of a battleship after that is understandable if you put it in reference to the rest of the ships stuff it makes it less impressive.
What does defeat mean to you?

Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

They looked at the whole ship's schematics. It was in context with the rest of the ship.

They must have missed the death trap on the Warp Core...

Really though, a ship with that much fire power (for the time) could easily be mistaken. Lets face it, when DRAMA wasn't involved the GCS could deal out a lot of hurt. Still though, I doubt a battleship which by most design ideals would be TOTALLY built around weapons would have and internal setup like the GCS. Again, I'd like to hear it from a SF crew that isn't under alien control of the week.

That and we are always seeing her stacked next to cruisers and she doesn't show to be much ahead of the Vor'cha or D'D.

The GCS design makes it a badly designed battleship. It does not change the fact that it is a battleship. If you gave the USS Iowa luxury accomodation and an indoor swimming pool, it too would be several times the size, and an abyssmal design. That would not change the fact that it's got the best main battery of any battleship ever built, and is heavilly armoured. It would still be a battleship

You just have - Condundrum. The crew had lost their personnal memories, but they were by no means controlled by MacDuff, and their proffessional knowledge was completely intact.

We've never seen a GCS and a Vor'cha go head to head, so we can't compare those, but the D'Deridex is overall a superior ship. It's shields are roughly comparable, but it's got massive firepower, as shown in "Tin Man". That however, is utterly irrelevent. The German battlecruiser force, and the 1st Squadron of the Hochseeflotte, got an absolute pasting at Jutland when they went up against the Grand Fleet's 5th Battle Squadron. That doesn't change the fact that they were battleships, but simply means that the QEs were better battleships.

Ah, but the first sign of faulter... You are talking about taking a battleship and adding to it, where as the GCS was built with all those little things like Civs and bars and the most advanced sensors and warp systems along with years and years of supplies for long range study...

Now if you were to say the Uprated GCS is a battleship then I would agree with you. It was rebuilt to be just that. But the GCS standard... No.
You just have - Condundrum. The crew had lost their personnal memories, but they were by no means controlled by MacDuff, and their proffessional knowledge was completely intact.
Maybe your time with chakat has messed your eyes a bit... read below, I put the important parts in bold for you...

Again, I'd like to hear it from a SF crew that isn't under alien control of the week.

I hope this helps... :poke:

Oh, one SUPRISE ATTACK as your means of saying that the D'D is an overall superior ship followed by another one of your ENGLAND IS GREAT by talking about a battle that was an overall loss for england...

Also, the GCS has seems treated the equal of the Vor'cha which is a CRUISER!

They weren't under the alien's control. They had their memories removed, nothing more.

Indeed - the GCS is a better battleship than an Iowa with said modifications would be, as it's built like that from the start rather than having a ton of extra junk dumped onto an existing design. How does that refute my point?

My eyes are just fine. Yours, however, seem knackered. Or you're copying Blackstar's stunt of ignoring every bit you don't like. Read the sentence you quoted, along with Rochey's post.

Do explain how a surprise attack magically makes a ship's weapons far stronger.

Prove it.

I think the evidence from "Conundrum" is BETTER for having been mentioned by amnesiacs. As has been shown, all the crew's skills and professional knowledge were intact, but their assessment of the ship couldn't be colored by Starfleet's general attitudes of appeasement or deception about the role of a vessel.
