Re: Caption Competition
There's now an IP address blocker in place on the CC so that should be an end to it.
email, ergo spam

Re: Caption Competition
I'm actually amazed at how few people post crap in the caption comp. Prior to the latest kerfuffle, we have only had to delete two or three messages over more than two years.

Re: Caption Competition
Couldn't you guys track the person to his home using his i.p. address? I remember an Administrator on another forum got fed up with a spammer and tracked his i.p. down to his home address. He then called up the home and threatened them (what turned out to be a 14 year old's parents) with legal action if their kid harassed the forum again. It worked.

Re: Caption Competition
I think Graham has better things to be doing than calling one guy in the US and telling him to stop spamming.

Re: Caption Competition
You cannot map an IP Address to a real address, but you can get his ISP to do it. They wont tell you the address so I seriously doubt the story in the form presented. However, they will threaten them on your behalf as the spammer is almost certainly breaching their terms of use.

Okay, I wasn't sure if it could be done. Now I know.IanKennedy wrote:You cannot map an IP Address to a real address, but you can get his ISP to do it. In fact, let's just ban Jeffrey Combs to be on the safe-side...and all his family.Mark wrote:Or any character played by Jeffrey Combs

Well, thank you.....
Re: Caption Competition
I have felt the same way at times in the past, but let's be realistic about this. Everyone has a different sense of humor, and I've realized that mine is quite different from the judges. But I still continue to post, mostly because I like reading all of the other entries; it always gives me a good laugh. And if I happen to think of something amusing while I'm on there, I'll post it, but that's mostly just for fun. Besides, it's not like you win a prize or anything, so who cares? Just enjoy it for what it is.
