Anomalies of the week would tear those ships apart in seconds.

Even quantum wouldn't be able to save them?

Nah... those Frankenstein ships are notoriously quantum-deficient.

Yep, these things wouldn't stand a chance, so far as I can remember the only one we have a cannon sighting for is the Yeager, built with an up sized Peregrine and Intrepid Saucer, thankfully the F-14 version never made it to the screen IIRC. Realistically they would be of limited usefulness during the War and should have been dropped as the War progressed and normal ships were available.

Of course they could live out their lives in glory as target drones, helm training obstacles, freak side show attractions...

For some reason, though, I always felt, reading about the Frankeinstin Fleet, that by sheer accident they'd stumble across a good design. No basis for that feeling, yet it still persists.

BTW, if Graham really does have a fleet of Frankenstein ships, that's yet another good reason not to argue with him :D

Maybe the rouge types that would crew these things actually have a libido? Mothers, don;t let your daughter's near a Yeager-class ship.

On one note, sisko didn't seem to worry about his friend in the Centuar facing down a Bug. That should say at the least something about these ships. Second, when you are in a war that will command the fate of half the galaxy you don't get to be picky about what ships you take to battle. Just be happy you got them.

While fragile-looking, IDK that the Centaur actually qualifies as a Frankenstein ship - it seened to be all of the same mold.

Hmm . . . I suppose my strategy against a bug would depend on a few circumstances.

If I was responsible for the defense of a colony, then I would evacuate all but a skeleton crew into lifepods and and put competant officers into the shuttlecraft. Then I would attempt to ram the bug while off loading whatever firepower I have into their shield generators.

If the bug survives the ramming (I think it would actually--I don't suppose these ships have very powerful hulls) then it could be finished off by the shuttlecraft.

If it was just a dog-fight between my ship and theirs . . . well . . . I'll get back to you!

Close on the target then run a short fly by. Skim the upper hull of the bug and place a phaser right at the weak point in their shields. A pair of PTs at the same time would be just to make sure.

Really you guys, in battle play your enemy on his weakness. Don't always look for something tricky, just something that works. No techno babble and as simple as it gets.

Fly close, fly over them, fly past them and fire! Dead bug.

And hope your ship doesn't fall apart in mid-run, the bug doesn't manoeuvre, and you can actually hit the weak spot.

Jem tactics call for a mostly head on fight. IF they turn then the show the weak point. How many times have we seen the Jem's try anything new? THey charge forward and fire, then turn around and do it again. Play on your enemy and their weakness. Use the same tactic, but just have a better idea of where you are going to be shooting.
