Well, it was the 60's. Early Trekkies may have been too stoned to notice this stuff.Blackstar the Chakat wrote:How the hell did this show ever survive?

Because it was a legitemately good show, ground-breaking. Some stuff it did, no other Trek did better. I've seen almost the first two seasons and... it's a lot better than I remember it.Blackstar the Chakat wrote:How the hell did this show ever survive?

Well, that's because the method of producing drugs of an extra-legal nature has improved since the sixties.RK_Striker_JK_5 wrote:Because it was a legitemately good show, ground-breaking. And to me, phasers were the coolest weapons ever invented, bar none.

Re: Under which Captain would you rather serve?
nah...force lance is cooler IMO. It's got the shooting setting, and can turn into a quarter staff for close range combat. That's cooler then either the Phaser or the usual choice for 'cool' weapons the lightsaber. "Have you seen my force lance?"Mark wrote:And to me, phasers were the coolest weapons ever invented, bar none.
Re: Under which Captain would you rather serve?
The phaser completely destroys the body, leaving no evidence that a crime has been committed. Unless your already looking for one. Muhahahaha

Re: Under which Captain would you rather serve?
Seeing the Romulan's side of the conflict is not plot? Of course it is! And if you are talking plot, then look at the motivation for the conflict; The Romulans have appeared for the first time in some eighty years. Does Enterprise dare attack a ship with seemingly invincible weapons? Or do they dare let it escape across the Neutral Zone to report victories against the Federation? Does Kirk dare take action without word from Starfleet first? This was the first appearance of the Romulans, one of Star Trek's most interesting, implacable foes.Reliant121 wrote:I dont find that entertaining or engaging to watch. that does nothing for plot. that is detail, not plot, IMO.
There is a lot more than just cat and mouse going on in the episode, you just do not want to admit to it, or you weren't paying attention.

(and of Mark Lenard's illustrious Trek career, on a historical note)
