Yes, my post concerning the trending and design brief whereby I went through the shields, torpedo and phaser firepowers and compared them to the Sovereign and Galaxies, taking into account any peak trending, necessities of war, and the difference in strengths between battleships and (luxury) battlecruisers. There is a little bit of maths in it - you may want to avoid.Blackstar the Chakat wrote:

True but there's only so much you can do with crap.Thorin wrote:That would be pretty horrific, yes. So we don't play it out like that. How many times - we write the RP and make it enjoyable, the RP doesn't make the writers writings enjoyable.Reliant121 wrote: sorry but thats not a good RP. in fact thats crap.
Re: Gamma Mission Prep
Indeed, but the ship is not crap as it is not ridiculously powerful - it's accordingly powerful. Comparable to counterparts like the Scimitar, Borg Sphere, Dominion battleship.Blackstar the Chakat wrote: True but there's only so much you can do with crap.

how. explain how? the Background makes up half of the RP. you can only salvage half of it with Writing. so you'll only have a half decent RP.

Blackstar, adress my points.

Because you can do more with unbalanced odds than with normal. Everyone always expects "oh, it's going to be close. It's going to go down to the wire, the baddies will look like winning, then suddenly the goodies will clinch it in the end. How original". Why not do something different that could lead us down a different path, that won't require conventional stronger fleet A versus weaker fleet B?Reliant121 wrote:how. explain how? the Background makes up half of the RP. you can only salvage half of it with Writing. so you'll only have a half decent RP.

Re: Gamma Mission Prep
Because i dont agree that gives more option. Trials and difficult times bring out the best, worst most colourful about peoples nature. Battle stress where it could go either way is just an example of that.
Re: Gamma Mission Prep
Precisely, a scenario whereby there is a dominion battleship bearing down on you, and the captain says "don't worry, the Paladin is on it's way"... Some time later "where the hell is that Paladin" etc. Expecting to win and not necessarily winning in the end gives a more dramatic twist than not expecting to win and not winning in the end. We don't have to win this battle - we might as well just click 'replay' on Beta mission. Why not have it so we lose and they get hold of the battleship, and we have to reclaim it or any other multitude of reasons. Going into the battle expecting it to be close means it WILL be close, and that's done; tried and tested, unoriginal, and boring. Going into the battle expecting to win, relying on one ship, gives rise to a lot of possibilities - a few of which I've mentioned here.Reliant121 wrote:Because i dont agree that gives more option. Re: Gamma Mission Prep
I suppose you could argue that, but why need the extra firepower then?
Re: Gamma Mission Prep
Because it's in line with the ST universe - it just adds credibility to the workings behind the RP. The fact my figures are in line with how the ST universe progresses, and would work in the RP gives it no forseeable downsides.Reliant121 wrote:I suppose you could argue that, but why need the extra firepower then?

Excuse me? You started that debate in the first place. Having debates that have nothing to do with the parent thread is far from unusual around here. Adress my points.get over yourself. There's no need to address them as they aren't relevant to what the subject is about.

How the hell is it in line with the ST universe?! Starfleet doesnt do ships, even battleships with a billion weapons that pwns the fuck out of everything else. Thats not starfleet, nor federation. Keeping in the ST universe, is keeping with starfleet.
