Its not a mean enough name. It sounds like a good name for a Nova or something like that. I really like the Belleraphon (Last one could have exploded) or the Valkyrie.Blackstar the Chakat wrote:Are you objecting?Monroe wrote:We never agreed on it being called Pegasus;)

How many Minbari does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
None. They always surrender right before they finish the job and never tell you why.

Voyager isn't a mean name either but it seemed suitable for that ship.Monroe wrote:Its not a mean enough name. It sounds like a good name for a Nova or something like that. Or it could be the same one, just reassigned?Monroe wrote: I really like the Belleraphon (Last one could have exploded).

You guys ARE talking about an Intrepid class starship, right? If so, why would you need the Beleraphon to explode? Why not just assume command of the same ship? Twenty years later, I think she'd most likely be in need of a new Captain and crew.

What's wrong with Pegasus?

I just think Pegasus is too.. weak sounding. :-/
Beleraphon rode the pegasus in Greek mythology so it sounds like a good combo.

If you think about it, Belleraphon is already an Intrepid. Pegasus was the name of an Oberth. Generally, IIRC, ship names tend to be inhereted by similar size and type vessels. Enterprise was always inherited by the flagship of either a Heavy or Battlecruiser or a battleship.
Re: Gamma mission sign in
My main character (ta-da!)
Name: Forrest Howe
Rank: TBD (Lt?)
Species: Human
Age: 33 Earth Years
Birthplace: Earth, New York City
Current Posting: TBD (Intrepid?)
Height: 5'5" / 1.65m
Weight: 160 lbs / 72kg
Hair color: Light Brown (receding)
Eye color: Hazel
Personal History: Forrest is unmarried. He comes from a small, closely knit family with one older brother. His father's family has a history of military service that had become dormant until Forrest decided to join Starfleet. From his mother's Italian heritage, he has inherited a keen interest in the arts, and at a young age took naturally to playing the double bass. Howe frequents a holodeck program set in a Harlem jazz club, where he has spent thousands of hours fine-tuning the personalities of the guests and the styles of the other musicians.
Career Record (brief):Forrest is highly intelligent, and in Starfleet he has shown an impressive ability to acclimate quickly to unfamiliar situations. His career, however, has always suffered from a lack of momentum. Howe often relies on his quick thinking to fix problems created by an undesirable level of distraction; reprimands are common as he daydreams about roads not taken.
In the past two years, Howe has worked hard to better his professional standing, and has managed to improve his ability to concentrate. His record, though speckled with demerits, continues to show his prowess at improvisation. The upcoming mission is a good opportunity for him to show his progress, and he secretly hopes to prove to himself that a career in Starfleet indeed has value.
Social Life: Forrest has made many friends, both in and out of Starfleet. He is friendly and engaging to those he meets, though some people notice his preoccupied nature. Ships' doctors usually give Forrest a hard time about his weight, and he has refused treatment for his hairline. Nonetheless, he has managed as healthy a romantic lifestyle as military service can afford.
(OOU, I'd like to create a few npcs for him to interact with, but not until I know more about where he'll be posted.)

You can take any position you like so long as one of us hasnt already taken it. So you can basically do what ever you like.
PS: Mikey Amy Sternson was my Science 2ic so you could make her the Daystroms science officer if you want to fill the roll.

What does defeat mean to you?
Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

Pegasus comes from the greek Pégasos, which translates to "strong". He was a winged horse that was the son of Poseidon, in his role as horse-god, and the Gorgon Medusa. Sounds not weak to me.Monroe wrote: I just think Pegasus is too.. weak sounding. :-/

Yeah, but Pegasus sounds rather lame.Pegasus comes from the greek Pégasos, which translates to "strong". He was a winged horse that was the son of Poseidon, in his role as horse-god, and the Gorgon Medusa. Sounds not weak to me.
