Gamma Mission Prep
Re: Gamma Mission Prep
Easy thing to fix: Just make it so the battleship isn't brand new at the start of this RP. Make it that it was around even during the Daystorm RP. Its low production scale just happened to make it so none of them were at the battle. Boom problem solved.
How many Minbari does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
None. They always surrender right before they finish the job and never tell you why.

Gang, I've looked and I just can't seem to find the stats and breakdown of the new battleship. I'm assuming they are here somewhere, but where? Also, do we have a pic or sketch of the ship?

the women are mighty fine.
They look like Phyllis Diller,
and walk like Frankenstein.

Re: Gamma Mission Prep
It's not at all, though. If an out and out battleship made 10 years after a self confessed exploratory vessel is only marginally stronger than it, something's gone wrong. As it is, however, it's made 20 years after and should really be the Scimitar of the Feds.Monroe wrote:Easy thing to fix: Just make it so the battleship isn't brand new at the start of this RP. Re: Gamma Mission Prep
Ok I'm back kinda and just speed read this. I really dont care about the name. Its about as important as Fletchers shoe size.
As for the Battleship. I didnt want the thing to be to powerful. As Rochey once said if we did all the stuff we could possibly do to it we may as well name it the USS Wanktastic and be done with it.
The one we have here is plenty strong enough for what we need. And while yes it could be stronger it could also be the size of a small moon and have the ability to destroy planets... oh wait, that would be retarded.
Putting its current stats into the DITL calculator does give a lower number but I dont that that realistically shows its power. It can take a Negh'Var out in one hit if it gets a shot with its lance in. It can sit there for ages absorbing hits on its shields and armour while it and other ships are destroying the enemy ships.
Yeah the shields are only a bit stronger than the Sov but the Sov's shields are hell powerful.
I think making it stronger is pointless and stupid.

What does defeat mean to you?
Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

Keep in mind that we'll also be taking on only ships we've already seen before. It doesn't matter if it's not as advanced as it could or should be if the ships we're taking on are still going to be swatted like bugs.

Re: Gamma Mission Prep
Teaos - this ship is 20 years ahead of the Sovereign. That is a long time, and it is made to be a pure battleship. The Sovereign is not. I'm really not happy wtih how pathetically weak it is compared to the Sovereign - compared to its technological advancements and deisgn.
Making it stronger will fit in with the design it was given - a pure battleship, ship of the line. The Scimitar of the Federation; but 10 years ahead. Its phasers, torpedos and shields are far, far too weak for its design and chronological advancement.

Re: Gamma Mission Prep
But we dont need it. We dont need that firepower. We're facing what we've already seen, with no changes.
Re: Gamma Mission Prep
Your clearly not getting my point. At all.
It's not the point we don't need it; it's the point we don't have it. The ship is pathetically weak. Yes, Teaos, the Wanktastic would be just its namesake, but IMO, and in many others opinions, you've gone too far to the other end; especially considering the design and how far advanced it was over the Sovereign/Scimitar.

Re: Gamma Mission Prep
Actually for you information, i do get your point. I simply fail to see it as being that pressing.
She's bloody powerful as it is, even if its not quite up to sovereign standard. Plus, in singular weaponry, we have the advantage. The Lance is a major factor. output wise, TOTAL phaser power may be slightly more, less w/e. But the fact that the Lance has all that singular power, has the advantage over the sovereign.

Re: Gamma Mission Prep
No - you don't get my point, if you're still arguing against you clearly aren't getting it, as you have persisted in arguing that we don't need it and this battleship is somehow better than the Sovereign. Yes, it is, but only marginally, and marginally being better than a self confessed exploratory ship which is 20 years old is not as good as we want it to be.

Re: Gamma Mission Prep
yes i'm arguing against it, and because my opinion differs does not mean i dont comprehend. I dont think we need it, regardless of whether you agree, anyone else agrees w/e.
Re: Gamma Mission Prep
Because your opinion differs doesn't mean you don't comprehend, no. But you are not disagreeing with what I'm saying, you're disagreeing with a point I've never made, indicating that you don't get my point. I'm saying the ship should be more powerful, regardless of whether we need it or not. You're arguing against it on the point we don't need it - which I've said is irrelevant.
