You could tell Deep wasn't around, because the name-calling came AFTER the tempers flared.

Re: USS Stargazer
Depending on your viewpoint, you could say it was - does the year 1066 ring a bell? Or would you prefer to say that England was conquered and settled by an upper class of Frenchmen?Captain Seafort wrote:I know. We're working on it. I rather point out that England was conquered and settled by yet another bunch of Norsemen. Who needed the country's resources to help fight wars against their uppity southern neighbour.Mikey wrote:Depending on your viewpoint, you could say it was - does the year 1066 ring a bell? Re: USS Stargazer
So, we'll ignore the fact that the Normans were, in fact, from Normandy? That's OK, I won't tell.
All kidding aside, just so you know, not all of modern America is ignorant of the French contribution in the American Revolution. In fact, there is a popular beachside resort town in my township called Lavallette, named for the Marquis de la Vallette.

I know several people that were STUNNED to find out that the Statue of Liberty was in fact from our French friend, and not built by the US.Mikey wrote:So, we'll ignore the fact that the Normans were, in fact, from Normandy? That's OK, I won't tell.

1812 - the might of the US regular army stormed across the boarder and was promptly sent packing by Isaac Brock and Tecumseh.
