3)leaving a booby-trap is a fairly old and often successful tactic that can kill many enemy combatants without risking more of your men.
What part of "
the risk is too fracking great to gamble" is so difficult for you to understand?
I addresed Seafort's points,
Sorry, mixed his reply up with Kendall's.
Feel like addresing my points?
Kendall adequately killed them for me. I don't see the need to echo him, other than the bit at the start of this post.
And how is this addressing my points? He could scuttle the ship and wipe out several combatants at the same time without any risk to himself.
Except he didn't know it would work.
Except he didn't know if the Ferengi could detect the trap.
Except he didn't know if the Ferengi could disarm it.
Except he didn't know if they'd even board the ship at all, instead of towing it back to a repair facility.
Except he didn't know if it would actualy even hurt the next ship that came along.
Except he didn't know if they could just download its computer core without boarding it.
Except that he'd never be able to confirm its destruction.
Except that would further drive the two powers to war, something Picard is always keen to avoid.
Except that it would mean handing the
Stargazer over to the Ferengi first, giving them all the time they needed to investigate the ship and possibly determine there was a trap there.
That enough problems for you, or should I go on?
