DW 30x12: The Stolen Earth
Re: DW 30x12: The Stolen Earth
Ignorance I can handle. Revelling in it is something else. I'm out too.

I have no problem with ignorance, but willing ignorance is a sign of... well nothing good. Such a shame.

I... vaguely remember learning about the Falkland's War in history class, but then again, it's been almost 11 years since I graduated from high school.

I have no problem with not knowing something. In fact i enjoy not knowing. Because then i CAN learn about it. I enjoy knowledge and learning. after this discussion, i spent about an hour learning the military side of it and another 30 minutes learning the capabilites of various ships in the british fleet.

That statement reffers to the knowledge that something bad is going to happen that you can't do anything about. For example, there's nothing you can do about a comet hitting Earth, so not knowing about it would be for the better.Whatever happened to "ignorance is bliss"?
Wilful ignorance on other matters, on the other hand, is not bliss. It's stupidity.

I like speculating about what would happen if they tried again. If it happened right now I doubt we would be able to retake the islands. Once we get these two new carriers it would be a whole different ballgame, though.Reliant121 wrote:I have no problem with not knowing something. In fact i enjoy not knowing. Even once we get the Daring's in operation, it could swing the tide a little.

Those things don't impress me at all, to be honest. Massively underarmed.

I suppose, but it still might give the government the impression they have the Cojones to get off their asses and do something, even if the older frigates and destroyers actually do the main stuff.

Should have just bought some DDG-51's off the Yanks. I really like the attitude towards the Daring class though: fitted for but not with CIWS. Guess the lessons of the Falklands didn't sink in as well as we thought...
