That was the appeal of TOS, Trek really started to blow when it took itself to seriously.
They really went to the other end of the scale with TNG, ruining it in the process.

Becuase among it fixed a lot of problems created by other series, like the Klingon Forehead problem,
One mediocre episode does not redeem the other seasons of crap.
while expanding on the early history
It didn't expand on anything. The vast majority of ENT episodes could be made into TNG or VOY episodes without needing to change much in the plot, and the few that did actualy deal with the early history of the Federation were brutal and idioticaly done.
and we got to see more of the Vulcan civilization showing that they aren't the perfect logical species that some fans seemed to think they were.
Not "seemed to think", it's what they were. Then ENT turned them into a bunch of arrogant asses.
. And it seemes to have retconned the "laser" thing from "The Cage".
It didn't retcon anything. It blatantly contradicted several quotes from TOS and TNG.
Plus the various story arcs were just cool.
They were all poorly written and terrible concepts. I don't remember a single one aside from the MU that I liked.

And I note you ignore the most blatant problems with the series:
Poor rehashes of TNG plots.
Blatant contradictions of stuff established in other series.
Racism.
Idiotic and inconsistant characters.
Craptastic dialogue.
Why would you want to? They never did anything.
They did plenty. The fact that they didn't blow something up in every episode doesn't mean that nothing happened. TNG was focused more with philosophical and moral problems.

I have to relatively agree with Rochey. While i'm nowhere near as negative as he is about it, it was certainly not flawless and TNG was leaps ahead.

Season 4 of Enterprise was pretty good - the Augment arc, Mirror universe arc and the Terra Prime arc in particular. Even the Romulan drone arc was pretty good, once you looked past the stupidity of the drone itself.

Season 3 had some good individual stories, as was the fundamental idea of the Xindi arc - it was the timing of it rather than the concept itself that was the problem.

Of season 1 and 2, the less said the better.

Season four was alright, I'll agree, and season 3 was at least better than the first two seasons. But as a whole the series sucked.

Absolutely - the quality of 3 and 4 is enough to bump it above Voyager, especially as the overall trend gave the impression that season 5 would produce truly high-quality Trek. That doesn't mean that it pushes the series above TOS, TNG and DS9, all of which had more high-quality stories in single seasons than Enterprise produced in its entire run.

I dislike TOS because its too outdated. The stories could be fantastic, but it is just too overshadowed by the archaic limitations of the technical side.

Who gives a damn about the effects? Good writing can overcome them, and produce a great story. The reverse cannot be said - the best that can be said is that you can enjoy it with the sound off. That isn't a story.

For you maybe. Different people have different measures. Dont get me wrong, some of the stories i've seen in TOS are great. It just isnt the same.

It's called Suspension of Disbelief, maybe you should try and use it.

I've always found it interesting that tthe younger a person the less they like TOS and now that Neo-BSG has started that discussion of Trek invariably include more elements of emo-star. BTW this is a general statement, not directed at you Reliant.

As opposed to just outright ripping off earlier series?
Not "seemed to think", it's what they were. Then ENT turned them into a bunch of arrogant asses.
Find me a Vulcan who hasn't been arrogant. They've always been arrogant, it was just more obvious in Enterprise.
It didn't retcon anything. It blatantly contradicted several quotes from TOS and TNG
A whole three quotes I believe. Big deal  It was at best a retcon, at worst a pre laser weapon.
Poor rehashes of TNG plots.
Like how TNG rehashed TOS plots?
Blatant contradictions of stuff established in other series
One person's contradiction is another's retcon. "The Cage"'s use of primitive laser weapons didn't even make sense.
Racism
Black guy doesn't get a lot of lines and suddenly the series is racist?
Idiotic and inconsistant characters
Flawed and realistic as opposed to TNG's perfect drone characters
Craptastic dialogue
Let's see you do better
They did plenty
Like what? Ran into a delusional demi-god who doesn't even have a real name and loves playing tricks? Fighting robot zombies? Worf having a bruised ego? Later series like Voyager and Enterprise did similar stuff and did it better.
