Graham list 12 arrays on the "basic" GCS as canonical.

Don't forget the 14 array variant seen in "The Way of the Warrior", which had two additional arrays mounted on the nacelles

Yeah, the upgraded War GCS. That'd be a better comparison.

On a GSC its the same only that there is one on the bottom of the enginering section. And that's it.
The two large phasers, plus two on the under hull not just one. Two on top the nacelles and one on each strut. One aft by the aft PTL, one on the drive section where the hull splits. That's ten, each being the equal of the ones on the Akira. That's 10 to 3 rating in phasers. Where are the others? She has 14 but I can't think off the top of my head where they are.

Let's see if I can list them off. Dorasal phaser array, Ventral array, 2 Nacelle pylon arrays, 4 battle section aft arrays, 2 battle section upper arrays, the battle section ventral array, and what I call the 'snakehead array' seen during saucer seperation, so that's 12. Then the refit has two additional arrays on the nacelles for 14.

GCS phasers: Upper Main Saucer, Lower Main Saucer, Upper Aft Saucer (x2), Upper Main Engineering Hull (under the separation plane), Lower Main Engineering Hull, Nacelle Pylon (x2), Upper Aft Engineering Hull (x2), Lower Aft Engineering Hull (x2).

Total: twelve

Plus the two on the nacelles for the war-GCS.

So now we're at 14 to 3. Still think the Akira can match a GCS in phasers? :P

When did I say that. I only said that I don't see a diffrence in the arangment of the arrays.

Ok half of these I can't even imagine where they are. and when have they been seen fireing. Could someone post a scheme of the GSC and mark them.

The dorsal main array is the long one on the saucer section. There are two much smaller ones at the read of the saucer - actually they are on the engineering hull. You can see two more right at the aft end of the ship

You can see the ventral saucer arrar on this pic, plus a medium sized one on th ebottom of the engineering hull. You can also see two more on the nacelle pylons and two more at the aft end of the hull.

earlier you wrote:On a GSC its the same only that there is one on the bottom of the enginering section. And that's it.
This statement says directly that a GCS has exactly one more phaser array than an Akira-class. That's where you said it.

Thanks GK.
Mikey now I don't remember any of those other phasers fireing (if you have a screen shoot it would be interesting to see it). Until now I thought that the Gsc had only 4 arrays + the Venture 2. I was mistaken.

How many of them are there to cover for blindspots and would not be neede on the Akira beacuse there is no enginering section.

As we've discussed elsewhere, I think the lack of phasers on the Akira is due to a difference in mission profile more than anything else.

Could be but in DS9 battles they were right there up with all the other ships, I just don't see any diffrent mission profile, they didn't sit back and fire torpedos.
