Agreed, this is very important. I doubt that the squadron would be sitting at a starbase for any great length of time.Captain Seafort wrote:Seconded. It's also important to consider that Teaos' stats describe the bubble shields as being a lot less maintenance-intensive, which is an important point.Rochey wrote:7 million, bubble, with independant power supply. If we're building a battleship, it makes sense to give it as much protection as possible. These things are going to be expensive to replace.

I just remembered something else. Are we going to be including Endgame equipment(transphasic torpedoes and ablative armor generators) as options for this ship?

Re: Our ship - Shields
I'd guess at no. That throws way too many unknowns into the equation, even presuming Starfleet can recreate them. Let's stick with traditional armaments and tech.

Not going after the most powerful equipment available? That's gotta be a first.Rochey wrote:I'd guess at no. That throws way too many unknowns into the equation, even presuming Starfleet can recreate them. Let's stick with traditional armaments and tech.
Re: Our ship - Shields
What about unimatrix shielding used on the Delta Flyer (and probably based on borg tech). Starfleet can surely recreate that.
Bringing that into account I think we must also specify the type of the shielding as well. I mean is it going to be regenerative or something a little more exotic (like the shielding of the Delta Flyer). It's the 2390's people stop thinking with 2370's technology on mind!

Re: Our ship - Shields
Regen shields would be good and most likely easy to set up since they will have not only an independent power source but can also be tied into the WC for extra kick.

Re: Our ship - Shields
The unimatrix sheilding still seemed to crash a lot. That and we don't know if the sheilds were just better against borg or everyone.

Re: Our ship - Shields
Regenerative shielding is still 2370's tech. We must come up with something else. Starfleet after the return of Voyager has enough info on borg adaptive shielding... why not assume that are able to produse something similar (not the same) till the 2390's...

Re: Our ship - Shields
Well in truth there is no way to say that the regen shields aren't adaptive. IIRC, there weren't any SF ships stuck in the Borg uber-tractor beam. SF must have cracked that one already. What we will have is shielding that both blocks and regens and stops borg. Sounds to me that we've got a good system here already.
