I think another good ship to take would be the AGT E-D. Replace the rapid fire PTLs with rapid fire QTLs. Add 20cm of ablative armour and improved SIF's. Also swap the type X's for type XII's. That phaser lance is just godly goodness. No civ's on board, train the crew in real warfare tactics and for everything holy GIVE ME SOME DAMN MARINES!

Nah, the sov just isn't for me and I wouldn't have enough room for the Marines onboard the defiant.

The AGT E-D was just fun to watch. Plus I love to upgrade ships to extreme and find the limits of how much power I can fit into them. Plus I think an Upgraded AGT E-D would be a fair match for the Sov. Could be a lot of fun to watch the two go at it.

AGT E-D was already obviously a warship, that's not the problem with it. The problem was that they turned the E-D into a fanboys wanktastic fantasy of a warship.

Really, you can't just add a tonne of kit onto a vessel without serious issues. When was the last time we saw a DDG-51 with fifteen 5 inchers?

I'd love to know what sort of stress that big gun put on the hull. I can't imagine something that powerful having little recoil.

Don't be silly, if the phaser cannon was powered directly from the warp core then it would be dead weight during saucer seperation. It probably has it's own fusion generators

I doubt it; too inefficient. You'd have to strip out a tonne of equipment to add another generator in there. Factor in the gun's own systems and all the other added weapons, and you have a tonne of stuff you need to cram in. I doubt that ship was designed with separation in mind.

Plus, by that point your main concern would most likely be getting away. Not turning back to face the guy who just beat you bad enough that your leaving the Drive Hull behind.

BTW, nacelles don't generate power. That is the warp reactor and there's no indication that any of that was even possible.

Duh! For your next trick remember that it is a show and unless told otherwise, what is seen is cannon. Picard saw no problem with the ship or the extra WN. In fact the extra WN could be just a spare or support option. We've covered the whole extra WN bit so many times.
