In which case they will still drive with nothing physically baring them from driving. At least with the lockout they have to put an effort into it. And that can often be enough to stop a disaster.

That's only going to work by expanding prisons or getting rid of the War on Drugs which produces the most inmates.

Wrong on both accounts. Canada employs them on the second DUI offence. They both work and work well enough not to cause maintence issues. It's a computer hooked to the vehicle battery, and there's already one in the vehicle.

I think the point shi's trying to make is: if you can't afford to fix it when it stops working, you can't get to work, can't pay rent, and soon will be homeless. There's already enough expensive crap on cars that can break down.

Like I said, as long as I don't have to pay for the thing (or for repairs if it breaks), I have no problem with it at all.
