Possible Explanation for the Ent. Cochrane got a glimpse of the future through his telescope. Through the scope, the E-E looks like a saucer w/ nacelles, which he could've documented to be the design for Earths first "real" starship. The saucer/engine combination didn't work out through efficiency reasons, and latter they went to the sphere/secondary hull/nacelles configuration.

Just try to avoid bringing up really old topics. It tends to be annoying.
