Lakota-Defiant battle some of the best fighting scenes in Trek. It showed two things that the defiant is clearly more powerful than the original excelsior and despite being 100y old the excelsior can still be refitted with the most modern equipment.

Does anybody know what was put on the Lakota?

Ambassador class its a solid design but it suffered the same fate as the connie it got replaced rather fast compared to its contemporary designs (Miranda, Excelsior).

But it has become old. In Trek years the design will already be something like 20y old and in a massive need for a redesign
to bring it up to the new fleet standard.
