People in World of Warcraft talk big trash about guild wars, and a lot of them say they tried guild wars and gave it up. I've never tried it, but you know what the single most common criticism I hear is? It's too fair. You don't get to go out, get uber ridiculously overpowered gear by spending 20,000 hours in the game, and then use it to destroy noobs.
I suppose it should say something about the typical personality playing WOW that they would consider fair fights a bad thing.

Its return on investment. Why should you spend hundreds of hours playing a game to be at the same level as someone who has played it a lot less.
What does defeat mean to you?
Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.
