And here it comes again. The whole, unwilling to compromise bit.
No, he's pointing out the problems in assuming such a thing could be kept secret. The same way I pointed out the problems in your space race and AI fighter ideas.

Like I said, it might've been in some totally unrelated topic (go figure), but I know I saw what I stated. Blackstar likes the mystery, though, so a direct answer is probably not forthcoming. :)

well, in this case he'd be subordinate and wouldn't know the details of the operation though. Something he seems to disagree with

I signed up to roleplay as the guy who heads up the tactical department, which includes the main role of protecting the ship. I expect to be able to roleplay as the character who I signed up as.

Let's get this straight, my character has not changed. You are the one changing. I have not attempted to infringe or do anything to anyone else. This is all coming from you towards my part of the RP. Just remember that.

I agree. Which is why Dusk's idea neatly solves this issue. You would be co-coordinating operations with M'Real through the captain. At least, that's the gist I got.

What about operations that involve the fighters but not involving protection of the ship?

Blackstar with all due respect your characters don't change much either :P
Also you haven't responded to my post about being the astrometric officer. It'd fit perfectly with M'Real's character.

Taking over the fighters with no input from my character is completely infringing on what I signed up for.

But still, I don't see that if Blackstar likes that idea, why we have been arguing for so long? Apart from the occasional ability to take a shuttle or fighter (which he would have been able to do anyway - with good reason), his role has not changed at all, and he was very adamant he wanted it to.

You're correct, Blackstar's position on the ship has not changed at all.

Hir position is exactly the same as it was before. The only reason I can see for taking it now is to try to make you and I look like the unreasonable ones.

As I said quite a while ago now, they would be under effective control of Operations - working alongside normal shuttles, but tactical would still retain overall command (such as recalling them, or directing them if a military situation occurs).

Besides the fact it's my dullness to make, I meant my characters role has not changed. And I don't inted to change that.

If Thorin's attitude is what he has put forward so far then write in that Blackstar has a small number of Starfleet ops pilots who don't operate through the ship's tactical roster, since theymight get reassigned or give up their flight seat to an operative or whatever the mission at hand might require. From an intelligence perspective it perhaps makes more sense anyway, but I was trying to compromise both sides and Thorin apparently has made a hard-nosed threat that he is essentially going to retain full control over anything and everything to do with the fighters.

So, have Starfleet Intelligence provide a small number for ops based off the ship. Thorin need not have a word to say about it. Their primary objective is not routine defense of the ship, perhaps she's gone for days at a time for intelligence rendezvous or missions or covert recon, and perahps sometimes the ship is ordered to assist and other times not.

Just ideas I'm throwing out. I don't know how you guys make decisions but I think leaving a whole character's possible existence or relevance up to one person's attitude would be a bit limiting.

No one has addressed my question about the canonicity of the amount of fighters embarked, I see.

That was my thought. My thought is that M'Real's new proposed role would have dispensation to use ship assets for specific missions when use of said assets does not directly infringe upon the safety of the ship (i.e. they're needed right this moment for defense). If Thorin's attitude is "I reserve the right to yank the fighters or order my pilots not to cooperate" then take it out of his hands entirely and give M'Real a separate set of pilots to work with. I don't think within the Trek universe Thorin's attitude would be tolerated in real practice, but a lot of this is personal and OOC malice on both sides and maybe it's just best not to give either of them "control" over what another's character does.

Tactical isn't just staff, it's equipment, too. The fact the fighters would be going would be to do with tactical, too.

Dusk, please, you've clearly got no idea of the context of this, and I'm getting downright annoyed by your ignorance on the issue, especially how you are continually making me out like the bad guy when in all honesty - you have no clue what you're talking about.

Hell, you're not even in the RP
