I wouldn't have thought you'd need to borrow from other departments.

 Only 30 in security on a warship. Even Starfleet couldn't be that stupid. *looks through the fourth wall* or could they?

I have no idea if you're joking or not, but it doesn't matter - by all means join tactical or operations, but tactical is retaining control over the fighters and their operations.

My school is full of people who know, or should know how to hack. That's fact. Besides, I'd just send one or two itty bitty viruses at worst.

Why, it's not like you use them.

I've not used torpedos yet, either. Should I give them to medical?

Though as a matter of fact, they were used, in conjunction with a runabout, when we were doing some planet-system searching earlier in the RP.

Thorin, loosen your grip a bit. Ships are like mates. You should have many and you should share them with the people who love them.

Now what about my idea with the new unit testing the AI Sallie(pronounced Sally. For the love of god, someone figure that idea out!)?

I'm not too keen, to be honest. We've got 20 fighter pilots and I think losing that would lose a very human element of war. Besides that they'd then become completely redundant when, in all honesty, they don't need to be and are doing their job just fine.

If you're saying, what I think you're saying, then that's one of the things to bring up in the RP. See? this is a great plan.

I didn't mean it in as much as them becoming redundant and that should be addressed as part of the story, but rather my personal characters that I am controlling I would no longer be able to use. I want to write about my characters dog fighting and the like. Why would I (as myself - Thorin) want to give that up? Taking away from what essentially is mostly 'my' part of the RP isn't really fair, in my opinion. And I don't think it would fit in the story, as Rochey had already mentioned, and for the other reasons that I had mentioned earlier.

And besides all that, even if some Sally things were used, I don't see how you, with your minor experience after the academy, would be qualified to then take over all these new Sally shuttles when we've still got the fully trained pilots.

First - yes, yes, we all got the "Sally" joke. It was fairly obvious.

Second - since the M-5 debacle, Starfleet has seemed to avoid autonomous vessels.

Third - having such a craft would take away an RP opportunity, not add one.

Sally is the name of the AI of one modified fighter. Ever seen the movie Stealth? The new pilots would be like that unit, but without as much hollywoodized stuff going on. Besides, M'Real still had top scores at the acadamy. She'd simply be in command of the new test squad.

And to be honest, you're tacticle. You should be in charge of the torpedoes and other ship-to-ship battle type stuff. You haven't done anything with the fighter squadren, haven't even suggested any ideas for the squadren. And you'd be giving general orders to the squadren at best, not telling them to dodge and weave and such because you should be busy with the ship. Besides, who's more qualified to command a flight of fighters, an ex-pilot with the rank of Lt. Cmd. or a Lt. who's been out with the flu?

I think he's talking about giving general orders - a pilot who needs to be told when to weave, split-S, or anything else like that has no business in a cockpit unless he's cleaning it for a real pilot.
