Make sure not to push too hard, though, brother. The idea is to get them to believe it's their idea...

On an unrelated note, I almost got engaged last night...

Today, she's very unsure, and probably going back to her verbally abusive boyfriend. She has a number of reasons, not the least of which is my financial status... It sucks because she's a good person, and I care about her dearly, but I won't pressure her into it if she doesn't want to do it (it was her idea, BTW).

Reliant: Good to hear they're okay. :)

Tsu: A pity, but good luck! :)

I don't want to rain on your parade but don't expect anything. Addiction is a powerful thing and if I were you I would go in expecting the guy to make a step back for every step forward he takes for quite a while. I spent four years as both a morphine and alcohol addict and I had to practically lose everything I cared about to go clean.

By all means be supportive and do whatever you can to help but don't expect a 180 overnight.

And from what I hear Heroine is by far the worst for addiction. You almost have to get an addiction to something else to get off it.

Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

I dont know whether it will mean anything. She recieves regular beatings from another guy and...it helped her cope with the pain. All i can do is try to be there for her..

and i was trying to lighten the mood ¬¬

I would lay money on if she doesn't escape from the abuse that she'll continue to use heroin.

She either escapes phyiscally by leaving or mentally by using.

Exactly. And the most frustrating part about it is that she won't leave or stop until she is ready, there's very little you can do to bring it about. The harder you push the more they want to continue.

Reliant - watching someone close to you spiral downward in a heroin addiction is one of the hardest things you can ever watch - I've seen it, and only Kendall (AFAIK) here can speak more directly to that fact. Unfortunately, it takes a lot more than just a desire to quit. Even more unfortunately, it may come to the point that doing your utmost to help may mean being forceful enough to have her lost to you as a friend.

The good news is that if she can get clean with enough help, it could very literally save her life.

It's a wonderfully annoying habit to have. :D

The downside in this case is that some sacrifice will most likely need to be made to acheive a greater success. I hope this doesn't sound too hackneyed, but hopefully the personal and thankless knowledge of what good deeds you have attempted will suffice.
