Actually Mikey runs both sides of the fence. And Monroe does tend to kill his friends. And Rochey is an asshole, who likes to use regulations to his advantage, but when it suits him, he'll ignore them.

On the other hand, if you're any use to me then you're safe.

Actualy, I don't think I did anything that I'm not authorised to do. I'm quite careful to make sure that everything is done nice and legaly, so no one can catch me out.

Actualy, I just ordered Munro to find out what we wanted. I never said anything about torture. After all, it's not my fault if my subordinates incorrectly interpret my orders, is it?

Made my post and in it the lockdown was turned off.

Can someone simplify this Munro/Blackstar/M'Real stuff for me. I'm completely not getting it. Is Blackstar a 'goody' or 'baddy'? And the rest, for that matter.

Well, Blackstar is a good guy(well, herm) who does good things in a bad way and didn't respect Rochey's authority. Munro officially killed hir. Unofficially shi is alive and now the captain of the Starbolt's Pride

Munro kills anything he can without mercy and is Rochey's lapdog, so I guess he's a baddy.

M'Real is trying to restore order on the ship. She's a good guy(girl) who is constantly getting trouble from Rochey, just because she's actually doing her job.

No problem:

Blackstar commited treason and mutiny during the away mission, and Rochey wanted hir thrown in the brig. Shi faked hir own death, making it look like Munro accidently killed hir when he tried to stun hir. During the away mission Munro was also forced to shoot one of his own redshirts to keep the team's cover.

M'Real turned up later on, to investigate the deaths that had occured on the ship and on the away mission. What no one but the Captain knows, however, is that M'Real is Blackstar's sister by adoption. During her interrogation of Munro and Mikey, Rochey got the idea that she was gunning to take him down for some reason. Her later actions where she flaunted shipboard regulations and interfered with the security systems did little to make him like her any better. Although M'Real attempted to schedule several meetings with him to discuss the occurances on the planet, Rochey dodged all of them.

M'Real then aimed at getting Rochey's right hand man, Munro, court-martialled for shooting the redshirt on the planet. She suggested to the Captain that he be placed under arrest and put on trial, but the events with the Caitian prisoners put a halt to that. Undoubtedly she'll try to get that back into action now that things have calmed down.

As for who's good or bad, that depends on your perspective.
M'Real wants justice for what happened to Blackstar and Nameless Redshirt #38 on the planet. I suppose she's the closest to being the 'good' guy in this situation, but the way she's going about it isn't portraying that image to the crew.

Munro's just following orders in his own ruthless way. He doesn't really care whether what he does is legal or not. He's more a shade of grey.

Rochey is just looking out for himself, and using his authority to clamp down on those who are opposed to him (M'Real, Blackstar) and gain more power for himself (the recent clampdown on comms access being a good example). I suppose he's the 'bad' guy here, but so far he's managed to keep all his actions just this side of legal (he leaves the illegal stuff for Munro to do, eg torturing that prisoner).

Hewer is probably one of the most strategically important people, though. He's served on the ship longer and knows it better than anyone on it - particularly the tactical and security systems. In cases of chasing intruders, or being being chased around the ship itself, Hewer would probably be the best person onboard. The tactical department also has many of the advantages of both command and security - the strategic know-how of security, and a similar clearance and knowledge of systems as command.

I've not decided what aspect or side Hewer will be looking at yet, though.

Correct. I don't think she has the authority to order anyone around, and neither are we allowed to order her around.

Indeed. Both Rochey and M'Real would find you very useful to have on their side.

Hey Crewman Forester was not Munro's friend

Far as schemingg its pretty easy to know what side Munro is on. The side that gets the mission done.

Hey, I think I came up with a solution for M'Real. Since she clearly sucks at intelligence operations as she can't even get an interview with Rochey(although that may be a blessing. Who wants to talk to that jackass anyway?

) she may transfer to something she's better at. Perhaps external operations(away teams and shuttle control) officer?
