But standard shields stop transport. And for that shield to randomly have the right frequency would be a much to believe.
What does defeat mean to you?
Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

I think I know what you're trying to say, but the Borg sheilds seem to operate on as few frequencys that they have to. Probably to conserve energy or something. So, if the Transporter doesn't use the same frequency as the beam weapons it shouldn't be a problem. Not until the borg figure out what's going on and come up with an adaptation.Teaos wrote:But standard shields stop transport. I don't know, we were still on-topic a few pages ago. It's not that bad.Teaos wrote:Wow this thread is screwed.
How many crew do you think you'd need to run a Nova-class optimally?

Well, the Equinox started off with 80 I think. However for basic operations I'd guess maybe 10 or 15. Most of the crew is probably science teams and I'd guess that would take up at least half the crew, probably more.Tsukiyumi wrote:I don't know, we were still on-topic a few pages ago. Well, Voyager flew with minimal crew, while heavily damaged in Year of Hell. So I think at least 5 per shift for basic operations. Maybe 10 at most per shift. So 15-30 crew for optimal basic operations. Plus 50 science crew. Seems reasonable to meTeaos wrote:Remember you need to fill multiple shifts. People need sleep.

Yeah, that sounds about right. I guess I'd stick with my original choice for a Runabout. Just me and a couple of friends exploring the nearby galaxy.ChakatBlackstar wrote:Well, Voyager flew with minimal crew, while heavily damaged in Year of Hell. I'd certainly take a runabout, but not with 2 friends
If I was gonna be an actual Captain, I'd go for my long planned Nebula Class, modified Admiral Riker style - namely a cloaking device, big gun, and live Jazz playing in Ten-Forward - with Guinan replaced by a holographic replica of Ted Danson. No replicators or Synthale either - cooked food and real liquor. I'll just keep a few thousand pigs in the transporter buffer.
And I'd be stationed down on the Battle Bridge with Nog and Data as Helmsmen and Operations - the rest of the crew can stay up on the main bridge and have bits of the roof fall on them.
And I'd have a Danube or two in the Shuttle Bay.

I'd either have the Nova or Intrepid. Say what you will about Voyager that ship was well built.
