*shrug* Go for it, seeing as how you're set on having a race for some reason.Okay, maybe I'm going about this the wrong way. How about this then: The Daystrom pulls in for routine R&R&R&R(repairs, refuel, rest, and relaxation) type stuff, at a base. Some of the local systems are getting together for a race, and some of the Daystrom crew volunteers to represent Starfleet
That's still not a race in the conventional sense. If you're trying to take down targets, then it is a dogfight.Or it's a race to see who can hit all the targets the fastest.
I don't recall Mikey doing much with it. I think you got yourself kicked off the ship before anything really went on there.Acutally Mikey helped work with hir on it, and M'Real is hir adopted sister so those two would know a thing or two about.
As for M'Real, why would she know anything about a shuttle she didn't even know you were building?
Nope, still not justifying the waste of resources. Try again. To have fun?
That one works. Though you're still going to run into the problem of getting the shuttle handed over to you in the first place. I doubt Starfleet lets just anyone hop into the things for a joy-ride. You'd need a pretty convincing argument before any of the officers let you anywhere near a ship. And "to have fun" is not a convincing argument.Mikey wrote:Meh. As long as everything is under the watchful eye of the Daystrom, I don't think Fletcher would have a huge problem. It might actually encourage some creative conversation and role-playing!Rochey wrote:That one works. But you're right about our uber-shuttle; Mikey didn't do anything with it since before the away mission.

I'd say the best way to ensure the shuttle's kept in one piece is to send an officer along with it.
No, I am not volunteering.

Hey, it's the only sport I'm good at and like.*shrug* Go for it, seeing as how you're set on having a race for some reason
Its a race to see who's the fastest sharpshooter so it's still a type of race. That's still not a race in the conventional sense. If you're trying to take down targets, then it is a dogfight.
She'd know hir sister's tricksAs for M'Real, why would she know anything about a shuttle she didn't even know you were building?
To get women?Nope, still not justifying the waste of resources. Try again.
While M'Real doesn't like to do it too often, having an Admiral for an adapted mother can have its advanteges when it comes to string pulling. That one works. Though you're still going to run into the problem of getting the shuttle handed over to you in the first place. I doubt Starfleet lets just anyone hop into the things for a joy-ride. You'd need a pretty convincing argument before any of the officers let you anywhere near a ship. And "to have fun" is not a convincing argument.
But it's nice to see you're letting me go for it though

Not if you have to engage in a dogfight to hit said targets. Then it becomes a dogfight. Its a race to see who's the fastest sharpshooter so it's still a type of race.
How does knowing hir tricks translate into instantly knowing what shi's doing with a shuttle that's barely built yet? She'd know hir sister's tricks
No.To get women?
Not a good idea. Here's how that situation will go:While M'Real doesn't like to do it too often, having an Admiral for an adapted mother can have its advanteges when it comes to string pulling.
You call your mother to get her to pull some strings so you can take a joy-ride in the shuttle.
Rochey finds out that the Admiral is your mother.
Rochey then shrieks 'nepotism' every time you get any treatment that could even be vaguely considered to be preferential, and uses it as ammo to further try to destroy M'Real's credibility.
So, no, not a good idea.
Appealing to the Captain would be the best way to do it, though you'd want to have some pretty airtight reasons to make sure the Commander can't pick holes in them and try and get the shuttle back where it belongs.
I have no problem with this one because it's plausable, and makes some sense. Of course, the Commander's not going to be too pleased with you lot hijacking a shuttle to go off to some race with, so you'd want to try to get him off your case if you want an easy ride. Either assuring him you're not out to get him, or simply aiming his suspicion in a different direction might allieviate his hotility towards you. Or maybe he'll be on the planet enjoying some R&R, in which case you won't have to worry about him.But it's nice to see you're letting me go for it though

She'd know what her sister was thinking when shi was designing and building it.How does knowing hir tricks translate into instantly knowing what shi's doing with a shuttle that's barely built yet?
Hmm...howabout this: Having a new, more advanced shuttle with more speed and sensor capacity it could increase efficiency for shuttle-based missions and the race would be a good chance to test it's abilities in a live situation.have no problem with this one because it's plausable, and makes some sense. She may know the overall idea that shi would have had, but that doesn't meant she instantly knows where to go from there. She'd know what her sister was thinking when shi was designing and building it.
Might work. Though you'd need to get the shuttle built and finished before the race, so you'd probably want to get going with it.Hmm...howabout this: Having a new, more advanced shuttle with more speed and sensor capacity it could increase efficiency for shuttle-based missions and the race would be a good chance to test it's abilities in a live situation.
Then again, you'll probably run into the Commander, who just wants it broken down again for spare parts.

No but it's better then trying to figure it out without any frame of reference whatsoever.Rochey wrote:She may know the overall idea that shi would have had, but that doesn't meant she instantly knows where to go from there. She'd know what her sister was thinking when shi was designing and building it.
Which would be a waste of resources that were put into designing and building the shuttle, and we know how the Commander dislikes waste. And if they(they being M'Real and whoever else gets roped into this) get permission from the Captain first the Commander can't really do anything about it.Might work. Quite true. I was just pointing out it won't be easy to pick up from where shi left off.No but it's better then trying to figure it out without any frame of reference whatsoever.
Considering he wasn't exactly all for the shuttle in the first place, I think he'd prefer the man-hours that were spent building it to simply be discarded, and have the shuttle turned back into what it was before: replacement parts for the other shuttles. Unless you can convince him of the use of such a shuttle, he's going to maintain that attitude.Which would be a waste of resources that were put into designing and building the shuttle, and we know how the Commander dislikes waste.
Quite true. However, if you want to alieviate the hostility between M'Real and Rochey then it may be a good idea to at least let him know what you're planning on doing. It'd show that you aren't simply ignoring his rank by constantly going above his head, and indicate (either truthfuly or not) that you value having his authority on your side. And if they(they being M'Real and whoever else gets roped into this) get permission from the Captain first the Commander can't really do anything about it.
Simply ignoring him and going over his head is just going to make things worse.

Oh, and someone really should finish the whole prisoner escape.
