Sorry for the abrupt change of direction, but that needed to stop.

I do NOT want to start an old debate, but I am just curious, how the heck did sword-wielding robot drones fighting Borg come out of a TR-116 debate?!Captain Seafort wrote:The drone KE-shield argument is probably the oldest on the forum - IIRC, it was a similar debate between Graham and me that derailed the original TR-116 thread. No, I'm pointing out again that I was telling you we'd already gone over this plenty of times.Depends. Are you admitting you were acting immature?
Now, for the third time, let's drop it.

Ah... this is where the reference to "TR-116" syndrome comes from - the unstoppable tendency for one of our threads to go mind-bogglingy, non-tangentially off-topic.Duskofdead wrote:I do NOT want to start an old debate, but I am just curious, how the heck did sword-wielding robot drones fighting Borg come out of a TR-116 debate?!Captain Seafort wrote:The drone KE-shield argument is probably the oldest on the forum - IIRC, it was a similar debate between Graham and me that derailed the original TR-116 thread. It sounds that way.Mikey wrote:Ah... this is where the reference to "TR-116" syndrome comes from - the unstoppable tendency for one of our threads to go mind-bogglingy, non-tangentially off-topic.Duskofdead wrote:I do NOT want to start an old debate, but I am just curious, how the heck did sword-wielding robot drones fighting Borg come out of a TR-116 debate?!Captain Seafort wrote:The drone KE-shield argument is probably the oldest on the forum - IIRC, it was a similar debate between Graham and me that derailed the original TR-116 thread. It was a general debate about drones' lack of KE-shields, rather than oBSG Cylon Centurions. The gist of it was that since the TR-116 is a projectile weapon, it should be very effective against Borg drones, due to their lack of KE-shielding.

Well, even if they had KE-shielding(not saying they do, but IF they did) the micro-transporter could beam the bullet inside the drone. That would be cool. 8)Captain Seafort wrote:Have a readDuskofdead wrote:I do NOT want to start an old debate, but I am just curious, how the heck did sword-wielding robot drones fighting Borg come out of a TR-116 debate?!

Then you'd lose a bit of impact damage... we'd have to have exploding bullets or dum-dums.ChakatBlackstar wrote:Well, even if they had KE-shielding(not saying they do, but IF they did) the micro-transporter could beam the bullet inside the drone. Wouldnt the standard shield stop the transport?Well, even if they had KE-shielding(not saying they do, but IF they did) the micro-transporter could beam the bullet inside the drone. That would be cool.
What does defeat mean to you?
Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

Well, I'm thinking the borg shields are tuned to the specific weapon frequencys, for energy efficiency I guess, so that leaves the other frequencys open for you to transport through. That's my thought at least. If my idea is correct it could be difficult for the Borg to adapt to such a weapon.Teaos wrote:Wouldnt the standard shield stop the transport?Well, even if they had KE-shielding(not saying they do, but IF they did) the micro-transporter could beam the bullet inside the drone.
