What's a hurley stick?
It's a stick that you hurl at a window, hence the name. I'm not Irish and even I knew that one.
Why would you hurl a stick at a window? Baseballs are much more effective. Or if you're a communist and don't play baseball, rocks will do just fine.

It's a stick used in a quasi-lacrosse-type sport played across the pond.

The weapon of choice for those who play the sport of Hurling.

Note the steel band at the end. It is incredibly painful to get hit with one of these things, and they're often hit with such force that they break. It's quite common for a player to go through one or two hurleys in a professional match.

Annecdote time:
When I was still in school, I once went to watch my school's team play in some competition. The rivalry between the two schools playing was quite high, and tensions were at breaking point.
Now, in some versions of the hurl, the metal band at the end is fixed in place by two metal screws. It was this type of hurl that was being used at this match.
At one stage in the match, one of the players from my school got so pissed at another player from the other team, that he slammed his hurl into the guy's back. The hurl shattered, and the metal screws ended up in the player's back. The match was paused until we could get an ambulance to get him to a hospital, but the moment he was gone a substitute was dragged out and the game continued.

Granted, I haven't seen that happen again since, but the sport can be quite vicious. Quite an effective rioting weapon as well, far more effective at smashing things than the common baseball bat, even if it's less popular.
The baseball bat is basicaly the AK-47 of the sporting world, but the hurley stick is the nuclear ICBM.

You can get a mental image quite easily.
Imagine throwing thirty uber-agressive rioters into an enclosed space with the afore-mentioned sporting device, with the promise of a prize if they beat the other team. Then throw a tennis ball into the arena, and let the carnage begin.

People often want to try whats new and different. Its human nature.

Hopre your friends are ok. Heroin is quite possibly the most dangerous drug to try.
What does defeat mean to you?

Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

Man, that sucks. I didn't know it was that easily obtainable over there. Over here, I've only seen it a few times, and I used to party a LOT. I hope your friend is ok, Reliant.

I've experimented with a LOT of different things, but I've seen firsthand what H can do to a person wihtout even the straightforward danger of an OD involved. It's a terrible thing, made even more terrible by the addict's inability to see around it. My prayers are with your friends for both types of recovery.

well the news is good. Almost too good ¬¬ but dont look a gift horse in the mouth. Taz and Abi are both fine. Jhon-Paul feels like someone let off a quantum torpedo in his head but he's making a full recovery. He even felt guilty for not meeting me (awww such a sweety by the sound of it :P). And Abi, who has used it before and was the one that caused the other two to take it, has promised that she will TRY to stop. How well she will succeed is another matter. But at least she's trying.

Recognizing that there's a problem is a good first step. She should make damn sure that that step is followed by others though; forward, not backward.
