Sudden Death
Sudden Death
Whenever I do the sudden death, after I answer the second question, it says that I have gone to another page on the site.
I have not gone to any other pages and I would like to try to get a score greater than 2
Could someone look into this.

I think it might have happened to me once a while ago, if it did I'm pretty sure it was just a freak thing, hasn't happened since.

Re: Sudden Death
A quick question for all of the SD players... Would it cheapen a score to print out planet images as a reference? I have memorized all of my Temporal events, nailed all the Nebulas, can hazard my way through food and ships, and I'm getting a good handle on the species, but unfortunately I don't forsee developing a Vger - like memory to assimilate all of the planets.
For myself... I really would rather NOT use a printout as it defeats the purpose of demonstating unhealthy amounts of Trek knowledge, so I would like to hear what other players do to tackle tough to identify categories in SD. Don't be nervous that by sharing your tricks your high score will be beaten...

Re: Sudden Death
Yeah I think print out are cheating, or having multiple browser windows open.
What does defeat mean to you?
Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

Re: Sudden Death
Oh yeah, it wouldn't even be fun with multiple browsers.
Re: Sudden Death
A printout would be cheating since you are supposed to do it by memory. Its like walking into an Exam and asking the teacher if you can use his notes to write part of the test since you can't remember it...

Re: Sudden Death
That's a really good point. As I said, I'm not incredibly keen on doing that because, like you said, it's a trivia game, not an encyclopedia look up race. So does anyone have any tricks they use? So far, I try to remember ship angles of approach, class of ship, mottled patterns and color, but that has not held up like it has for the nebulas, which are generally more distinct. Praying that no planets come up and if they do that the SD gods will let me guess right has worked once or twice.KuvahMagh wrote:A printout would be cheating since you are supposed to do it by memory. Re: Sudden Death
Printouts are cheating. It's not possible to work with multiple browser windows, or even multiple browsers, try it and you will see that we can detect that.

Re: Sudden Death
I had some of the high scores for a while (I haven't looked at it lately) and I can tell you that for me, it was PURELY luck those times that I got really high scores. I know almost every ship by heart, but as for species, planets, and even some of the people (especially the "other species" from Voyager, for instance), at least a few times out of every 10 or 20 I had to guess. That's why I havne't posted any scores for a while...my luck seems to have run out and now I can't seem to do better then 20 or 30!
Re: Sudden Death
By the way, I don't think the site allows you to have two browser windows open at once while playing Sudden Death. After reading your post I tried it just to see, and it throws back a cheating message.

The planets are also the reason I can't get past 10 or 12 correct. One just always manages to show up, and I invariably fail.

Indeed, I can never remember those damned planets.
