Give a man a fire, and you keep him warm for a day. SET a man on fire, and you will keep him warm for the rest of his life...

Spoke too soon. She was there for 30 minutes before the other hospital where the donor was at, told my Mom that the donor's kidneys were no good.

Thanks all.
Bad week overall for my parents all in all. Started off on Monday with one of their cats dying in the morning. Tuesday their fridge died and was going to be delivered on Friday. Well the new fridge was delivered severely damaged. Even the guys who delivered it left behind the old fridge in the driveway and a bunch of garbage. New fridge will be delivered tomorrow.
I have all of their food now since it wasn't going to last till Monday.
So yeah, kidney thing was just one big disappointment. Wished the other hospital in Florida where the kidney was, opened the guy up first to see what the kidney looked like before they called my Mom.

Re: What's the latest in people's lives?
So sorry about your mom, McAvoy. I hope things work out.
I'm now working at Walmart unloading trucks in the backroom and taking freight out to the floor to be put on shelves. I've lost almost 10 pounds from the physical work, which is a good thing.
The air quality here where I live is horrendous from the wildfires in the area. Instead of a fine yellow layer of pollen on the cars, I have a fine grey layer of ash. I'm not joking. The main culprit is the Carr Fire in Shasta/Trinity counties, very close to Redding. It's grown to over 120,000+ acres and is now one of California's top 20 biggest fires of all time. There is also a major wildfire in Menocino county to the southwest of us, but I forgot the name of it.

We're about a 2-3 hr. drive from Redding, so we're pretty safe, but thanks, Striker. Lord knows a fire could start pretty close to here any time, what with the drought and all.RK_Striker_JK_5 wrote:Stay safe, whittington!

Re: What's the latest in people's lives?
Well, so far this month I have applied for a Computer Programming course and completed my CBT, so I can now legally ride a 125cc scooter, if I can find one affordable, ha.
The course starts in February, so it's a while away yet, but gives me time to get everything else sorted (care coordinator is leaving soon so will be discharging me in a month or two, though I'll still see the psychiatrist, and I have been referred to see a psychologist too). I have to phone the psychologist to make an appointment, and I absolutely hate talking on phones. But I have phoned them more than 2 dozen times this week and there's just no answer, so I have had to email another department, to get them to chase them up.
Apparently they don't do open-duration therapy anymore, at the first appointment we discuss what needs to be addressed, and then sign a contract for a maximum number of sessions. But better than nothing I guess.
Still, I have my CBT and hopefully college course, so all is good
Hope everyone else is swell.
