Re: JUSTICE LEAGUE - Official Heroes Trailer
Saw it yesterday. Definite step down from WW. It felt like it attempted to rely on facile humor over actual characterization and writing, and just glossed over too much. This might have been an inherent danger in a "group-hero" film, but Marvel seemed to have accomplished it with GotG. Gadot's performance was very good, as was Miller's (though he was given caricaturish material.)

'Justice League' Box Office: Another Setback for DC's Superhero Universe
The big-budget film posted the lowest domestic opening of any DC superhero pic since 'Green Lantern' in 2011, and the lowest for the DC Extended Universe.
In most cases, a box-office debut approaching $100 million in North America would be cause for celebration.
But at Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment, no one was popping open the champagne to toast Justice League, the big-budget superhero mashup that opened domestically to a sobering $94 million over the weekend after once having grand ambitions of matching rival Marvel's The Avengers series.
Justice League — assembling Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, The Flash and Cyborg together for the first time on the big screen — marks the lowest North American opening of the five titles in the DC Extended Universe and is a major setback following the breakout success of this summer's critical hit, Wonder Woman. And it's the lowest domestic launch of any DC superhero movie since the ill-fated Green Lantern in 2011 ($53.2 million).
To be sure, Justice League is finding more love overseas, where it opened to $185.5 million from 65 markets. It is faring best in Latin America, including a record-breaking $14.2 million debut in Brazil. Justice League stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, Amy Adams and J.K. Simmons.
Warners isn't commenting officially on the disappointing domestic opening, except to say the film is well positioned to play through the Thanksgiving holiday and into December (the next big tentpole is Star Wars: The Last Jedi, which opens Dec. 15). "Our path to ultimate box-office success is different from what we thought it would be," says Warners domestic distribution president Jeff Goldstein.

Maybe it will pick up over the Thanksgiving holiday. More people going to the movies?Graham Kennedy wrote:Opening weekend : $93,842,239 domestic.
Also, I forget to mention this but, during re-shoots, Henry Cavill was simultaneously shooting Mission Impossible 6, a Paramount movie, and had in his contract for that movie a clause to grow and keep a mustache while shooting MI6. However Superman of course, doesn't have a mustache. Warner Bros., offered to pay Paramount in order to allow Cavill to shave his 'stache for the re-shoots but, Paramount was petty about it and turned them down. So it reportedly cost $millions to CGI Cavill's mustache out of the re-shot scenes in this movie.
And so this happened:

Re: JUSTICE LEAGUE - Official Heroes Trailer
From what I've heard, Tom Cruise was the one who insisted he keep his moustache.

Re: JUSTICE LEAGUE - Official Heroes Trailer
Honestly, it's a real good mustache.
I can see why Tom Cruise can't live without it.

That is a good mustache. Hopefully it was worth the millions of dollars for the CGI.Nutso wrote:Honestly, it's a real good mustache.

I'd laugh my ass off it it was the CGI for the mustache that sank Justice League.
Re: JUSTICE LEAGUE - Official Heroes Trailer
The mustache was part of the re-shoots which reportedly cost $25million.

And these re-shoots were said by WB to be shot by Joss Whedon as Zack Snyder took time off due to his horrible family tragedy, and to comprise 15-20% of the released film. I think one of these re-shoots might have been the Wonder Woman sequence in the beginning because that Wonder Woman movie unexpectedly killed at the box office.

So we're looking at the mustache that might've sunk the movie. Good to know.

Man, how often do you get to see a quarter billion dollar moustache?

I wonder how much that works out to per hair. It has to be well into the hundreds of thousands, surely.

How ‘Justice League’ Became a ‘Frankenstein’
How ‘Justice League’ Became a ‘Frankenstein’
“Justice League” had a lot of enemies: a looming corporate merger, a family tragedy, an internal clash between light and dark themes. But its greatest enemy was time.
Few people are happy with the finished project, which one insider called “a Frankenstein” made of the assembled parts favored by rotating executives and directors and which had the worst opening for a DC Comics-based movie in years. But several people who spoke to TheWrap said the decision to keep the film’s Nov. 17 release date was a mistake — one as plain as Superman’s face.
Specifically, the weird, computer-generated look of his face — just one byproduct of the film’s rushed schedule. Here, according to insiders, is the story of how “Justice League” just ran out of time.
