That would justified. A pet that draws blood from a human can't be trusted and should be destroyed. The dog looked like it was dragging him away.

Yeah, that dog was trying to make a meal of that kid. What's up with the mom just running off, though? You'd think she would pick the kid up and then run...

Bad ass cat, though.

From the looks of it I think she's probably chasing the dog off and making sure it isn't coming back.

Fourthed or fifthed that the dog should be dead, and that cat's a hero.

It's all over Facebook.

And yes if that dog got ahold of my niece or worse my nephew, it will die.

Apparently the dog had come back around the front of the car. The mom chased it and got bit herself.

Update:
A dog will be euthanized after attacking a Bakersfield boy who was protected from further injury by the family cat.

"The owners later delivered the dog the Bakersfield Animal Care Center where the dog will be quarantined for ten days then euthanized," The Bakersfield Police Department reported in a news release Wednesday.

Oh man, that cat is just too funny. Just straight up using momentum and surprise as its first weapon.

Pets are animals, not toys, and should be treated accordingly. I'm not sure they are worth having around otherwise.

Dogs that basically pull that stunt deserve to be killed. You cannot trust them in a neighborhood. That cat won't be able to protect the kid the second time.

Pets are a massive responsibility for owners, particularly owning dogs. They can harm humans and/or themselves without proper rearing and good owner should respect that. The fact that this animal is going to be euthanized speaks poorly on the owners. They ignored one basic guideline of owning a dog; always lock-in an unsupervised pet on your property. Locking the dog in, there would be no story here, no child being attacked, no hero cat, and no animal being put to death.

Pets are animals, but they are domesticated animals. Humans keep pets for companionship. There should never be predatory behavior displayed towards humans. If it's a guard dog then this owner has failed to give the dog boundaries to guard, and just let it run around claiming a neighborhood as its own. This didn't have to happen. Responsible owners wouldn't have let this happen.

As an aside, I don't know how anyone can stand to have a snake in their home. There's no domestication there. Some of these snake owners are idiots who buy pythons and keep them in 3ft aquariums. Then they are shocked when these things grow so big they ate the neighbor's poodle. And then they dump them in a local sewer, or if you live in Florida, dump them in the Everglades where they turn an ecosystem to shit.
