Re: Star Trek Online (F2P)
I seem to be stuck on the first mission on the Romulan arc. Something about tracking a spy or something? Any ideas about fighting the Orions or is the Akira just a weak class?

Make sure you have good TLs of some sort. The Orion's have some damn tough ships against energy weapons. If you want tomorrow I can go with you to help you out.

Re: Star Trek Online (F2P)
The Akira, like all escorts take a certain defensive penalty for their maneuverability. The trick is to load up with the best weapons you can get, and a lot of BOFF abilities that allow you to heal your ship/shields, as well as ones that give you damage bonuses. When your in an Akira, you don't want a prolonged firefight, if you can't kill it in the first three or four volleys, it's probably not going to end well for you.
In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

Escorts are best for cutting in and out, dealing damage on the run or hiding behind a cruiser.

Are you playing the game on a higher difficulty level? At normal difficulty even with mostly green weapons and lacking much of a clue you should just breeze through the story missions.

The rewards from the story missions aren't worth the hassle of the increased difficulty, at least not until you are getting level XII gear out of them. Most of the time you can just sell a reward and get 85% of the purchase price of an equivalent rare off the exchange.

What does defeat mean to you?
Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

Re: Star Trek Online (F2P)
You will level very fast.
1) Pick a flavor of beam weapon and stick with it. Don't worry, there's no wrong answer. Mostly just pick the color you like best.
2) Pick a torpedo flavor and stick with it. Photons or Quantums is your best bet.
3) Don't waste a lot of cash on upgrades. None of the story missions are hard enough to need anything more than green level gear. Just save it.
4) Don't buy anything from the zen store until level 20. Don't buy a ship period.
5) Mostly just follow the story missions and you'll do fine.
